In Egypt, UNDP works with national and local partners to advance inclusive growth, social protection, climate action, environmental sustainability, digital transformation, local development, and the Sustainable Development Goals. The UNDP Egypt Communications Team supports the visibility and strategic positioning of the Country Office, its programmes, partnerships, and development results. As UNDP Egypt’s work is regularly featured across traditional and digital media, systematic monitoring is essential to track coverage, identify emerging narratives, support accurate public information, and flag potential reputational issues in a timely manner. The Online Volunteer will support this function remotely by helping the Communications Team monitor and analyse relevant Arabic- and English-language media coverage and online discussions.

Task Description

UNDP Egypt is seeking one Online Volunteer to support the Communications Team in monitoring media coverage, online news, and relevant public conversations related to UNDP Egypt, its programmes, partners, and areas of work. The Online Volunteer will work remotely and in close coordination with the UNDP Egypt Communications Team to: * Monitor Arabic- and English-language news outlets, digital media platforms, and relevant social media channels for mentions of UNDP Egypt, its senior management, projects, partners, and key development priorities. * Identify relevant positive coverage, emerging narratives, misinformation, inaccurate references, reputational risks, and issues requiring timely follow-up. * Prepare concise news coverage reports (template will be provided) including links, media/news clippings, tone of coverage, reach where available. * Compile weekly and monthly analytical reports. The volunteer will receive an initial briefing on UNDP Egypt’s mandate, priority portfolios, communications guidelines, and agreed monitoring parameters. All work will be reviewed and validated by the UNDP Egypt Communications Team before use or dissemination. This assignment will contribute to strengthening UNDP Egypt’s ability to track its public visibility, understand media narratives, respond to inaccurate information where needed, and ensure timely, evidence-based communications.
