Department Context - CIT
The Corporate Information & Technology (CIT) department is responsible for delivering solutions that scale IFC’s business growth and improve efficiency through technology, data, and innovation. CIT provides scalable digital solutions, strengthens core operational systems, and ensures compliance and resilience by managing IT risks, optimizing resources, and focusing on user experience. CIT plays a central role in IFC’s institutional transformation strategy and supports a digitally capable workforce ready to adopt emerging technologies.
CIT seeks a (Senior) Solutions Architect for its Finance unit, CITFN. CITFN is responsible for delivering and modernizing core financial, investment, and accounting platforms.
Duties/ Accountabilities:
The (Senior) Solutions Architect typically works on multiple projects in IFC’s finance portfolio, ensuring that the technical solutions supporting the unit’s initiatives are successfully delivered. He/she will provide technical leadership and guidance for complex projects that require knowledge of technology and business segments.
From a work program perspective, he/she will be responsible for solution delivery responsibilities, providing guidance and work program oversight to a team of staff and a large team of developers from vendors located on-premises and off-shore to ensure effective and efficient delivery of solutions.
From a technical perspective, he/she will be responsible for leading the design and modeling of the application and data architecture of the related solutions, component identification, quality reviews and adherence to enterprise standards, and guidelines.
Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include, but may not be limited to the following:
• Assume the role of Technical Architect and lead solution delivery teams in the implementation, maintenance, and operation of business-critical applications supporting the IFC’s private sector finance operations. This includes a suite of applications in the operations eco-systems related to loan operations, equity management and accounting
• Architect process integrations with applications and data platforms using both custom and industry leading tools.
• Architect and lead the implementation of workflow patterns supporting various applications in the unit.
• Provide guidance to and work with key stakeholders to support the discussion on the technical features of the digital solution, including ensuring the readiness of each release.
• Apply technical and business knowledge to architects and supervise the implementation of solutions.
• Effectively document and communicate technical analyses, designs, and specifications.
• Work with the Information Security Team to satisfy its requirements/recommendations and support related security testing.
• Identifies and evaluates overall systemic issues and analyzes complex issues. Apply scientific principles and best practices to design, develop, and support IT products, services, and solutions ensuring efficiency, scalability, and reliability.
• Architect and spearhead the integration of Generative AI and Large Language Model (LLM) solutions (e.g., Azure OpenAI) into core financial and operational workflows to drive automation, advanced data extraction, and enhanced decision-making
• Technical Architecture - Definition of principles that guide technology decisions, Clear relationship between enterprise business context (industry and market trends) and specified technology and alignment with EA standards.
• Solution Architecture - Definition of principles to guide solution decisions to support the evolution of the product portfolio from current state to future state. Develop reusable patterns and components in support of agile delivery.
• Coordinate with vendors and consultants, overseeing their deliveries to ensure that they satisfy requirements and meet World Bank Group standards.
• Coordinate with project team members. Mentor junior staff, assist with IT resource management.
• Prototyping & MVP Development: Lead hands-on development of PoCs and MVPs to quickly validate concepts and confirm scalability before major investment.
• Technical Governance & Guardrails: Define and enforce security, privacy, architecture, and coding standards that all developers both internal and external vendors must follow to protect institutional safety & integrity
• Accountable for delivering solutions at speed, scale and quality.
