Organizational Context
The Global Infrastructure Section (GIS), part of UNHCR’s Global Mobility and Infrastructure Service (GMIS) within the Division of Financial and Administrative Management (DFAM), delivers architectural, engineering, and facilities management support to UNHCR operations globally. Its mission is to ensure that workspaces are safe, inclusive, sustainable, and aligned with operational needs.
The Architect Associate contributes to the planning, implementation, and oversight of infrastructure projects by preparing architectural designs and layouts, supporting space planning and office moves, and assisting in procurement and construction-related processes. The role also includes liaising with field offices, HQ units, and service providers to coordinate building improvements, office reconfigurations, and facility upgrades.
The incumbent supports data collection and management for UNHCR’s real estate portfolio, ensuring accuracy and integrity in Unifier. They also support the Annual Verification exercise by training and supporting users of the Unifier platform to enable effective data collection, validation, and reporting.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate brings a background in architecture, with at least 2–3 years of experience in architectural drafting, office layout design, and construction project support. A high level of proficiency in AutoCAD or ArchiCAD, along with strong command of Microsoft Office tools, is essential.
Experience with digital platforms for real estate or infrastructure data management is highly desirable, along with the ability to support end-users through training and troubleshooting. Knowledge of procurement, facility management, and contract administration processes is a plus.
Familiarity with visual design and modeling tools such as SketchUp, Revit, Photoshop, InDesign, or 3D rendering software is an asset, especially in the context of promoting inclusive, accessible, and sustainable office environments.
