Job Description
THE ORGANIZATIONAL SETTING

The International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) sets international Standards and Recommended Practices (SARPs) for aviation safety, air navigation, security and environmental protection. The ICAO Gender Equality Programme was established in 2017, pursuant to an Assembly Resolution on this subject (A41-26). The Programme covers a broad spectrum of activities, some of which are specific to ICAO, while others focus on Member States, government, policy makers, and the role of the aviation industry. Gender equality is also listed as a “High Priority Enabler” as part of the ICAO Strategic Plan 2026-2050. A42 expressed its full support towards the continued implementation of the A41-26 resolution and requested ICAO to showcase its leaderships and commitment on this matter.

The intern would play a key supporting role, taking on essential day-to-day tasks and administrative functions that are critical to maintaining momentum across our initiatives. Given the Programme’s growing visibility and strategic importance within the Organization, sustained support is vital to uphold our commitments and deliverables—particularly with regards to the planning and administration relating to the ICAO Global Aviation Gender Summit 2026.

TERMS OF REFERENCE

The intern will work closely with the Gender Equality Team to:

  • Assist in the preparation of the next Global Aviation Gender Summit by coordinating logistics, following up with invited speakers, liaising with the host State for required information, responding to inquiries, and supporting overall event organization.
  • Draft articles, highlight stories, and develop communication materials for the ICAO Gender Equality Programme website and platforms, ensuring content is clear, accessible, and aligned with ICAO’s gender-related initiatives.
  • Schedule meetings with internal and external stakeholders, prepare agendas, assist with note-taking, and track follow-up actions to ensure smooth coordination of programme activities.
  • Other activities and general support as needed.
