Mission and objectives

Istanbul International Center for Private Sector in Development (IICPSD) supports the private sector and foundations to become transformative partners in development through research, advocacy for inclusive business, facilitation of public-private dialogue and brokering partnerships. IICPSD, established in 2011 in partnership with the Government of Turkey, is one of UNDP's six Global Policy Centres. It leads UNDP’s global work on private sector and foundations and supports UNDP’s offices all over the world. The Center focuses on four thematic areas: 1. Inclusive Business; 2. Private Sector Engagement in Skills Development; 3. Impact investing; 4. Resilience and Crisis Response. The Center also hosts four global initiatives: Business Call to Action, SDG Philanthropy Platform, Global Islamic Finance and Impact Investing Platform and Connecting Business Initiative.

Context

The GIS-Based Recovery Dashboard for Borodianka hromada (Kyiv Oblast) is being developed under the Tech4R initiative in collaboration with UN-Habitat Ukraine to support transparent, data-driven recovery planning. The dashboard will visualize reconstruction projects alongside environmental and hazard data, offering authorities and partners an interactive, bilingual tool for risk-informed decision-making. To ensure the dashboard is visually clear, accessible, and aligned with UN-Habitat’s communication standards, the Trainer on Visualization & Bilingual Interface Design will guide volunteers in developing user-friendly layouts, meaningful data visualizations, and consistent branding. The trainer will help the teams apply effective visual storytelling, color logic, and accessibility standards while ensuring that both Ukrainian and English interfaces are equally coherent and readable. This assignment will help ensure the final dashboard combines technical precision with professional design, serving as a model for other municipalities adopting open-source visualization tools.

Task Description

Under the supervision of the Tech4R coordination team, the Trainer will: Design and conduct a focused training session on visualization principles, user interface design, and bilingual layout adaptation. Introduce volunteers to data visualization tools and methods compatible with open-source dashboards (QGIS styling, Leaflet symbology, etc.). Provide practical guidance on color schemes, legends, icons, and layer organization for clear visual storytelling. Support volunteers in creating dual-language interfaces (English/Ukrainian) ensuring text alignment, readability, and consistent formatting.
