Mission and objectives
Istanbul International Center for Private Sector in Development (IICPSD) supports the private sector and foundations to become transformative partners in development through research, advocacy for inclusive business, facilitation of public-private dialogue and brokering partnerships. It leads UNDP’s global work on private sector and foundations and supports UNDP’s offices all over the world. The Center focuses on four thematic areas: 1. Inclusive Business; 2. Private Sector Engagement in Skills Development; 3. Impact investing; 4. Resilience and Crisis Response. The Center also hosts four global initiatives: Business Call to Action, SDG Philanthropy Platform, Global Islamic Finance and Impact Investing Platform and Connecting Business Initiative.Context
The Digital Platform for Animal Identification and Management integrates GIS technology to visually map animal locations, shelters, and service facilities across Uzbekistan. Through this system, local authorities and partners will be able to visualize and analyze animal data geographically, supporting better decision-making in animal health and movement management. The Trainer on GIS Mapping & Data Visualization will prepare volunteers to create, manage, and visualize georeferenced datasets within the platform. The trainer will provide practical guidance on using open-source tools such as QGIS and Leaflet to develop dynamic, accurate, and user-friendly maps that align with project goals. This role ensures volunteers can effectively connect geospatial data with backend databases and present it in a clear, actionable format.Task Description
Under the supervision of the Tech4R coordination team, the Trainer will: Conduct a hands-on training on GIS data management and visualization workflows. Introduce techniques for geocoding, spatial layer creation, and coordinate validation. Demonstrate how to link GIS datasets to registration data fields (animal ID, owner, vaccination info). Guide teams in using QGIS or Leaflet for map-based dashboards and interactive visualization. Advise on metadata management and spatial data standards to maintain accuracy. Review sample visualizations and provide feedback for clarity and usability. Contribute to documentation outlining GIS mapping standards and replication guidelines.Competencies and values
