Organizational Setting
The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) is a specialized agency of the United Nations that lead international efforts to achieve food security and nutrition for all. With presently 194 member states, and working in more than 130 countries worldwide, including Namibia. FAO contributes to the achievement of the 2030 Agenda through the FAO Strategic Framework by supporting the transformation to MORE efficient, inclusive, resilient and sustainable agrifood systems, for better production, better nutrition, a better environment, and a better life, leaving no one behind.
The aim of the FAO Country offices, which are headed by an FAO Representative, is to assist governments to develop policies, programmes and projects to achieve food security and to reduce hunger and malnutrition, to develop the agricultural, fisheries and forestry sectors, and to use their environmental and natural resources in a sustainable manner. FAO Country Office activities include the design and implementation of country-specific field programs, liaison with local donors' representatives, and active outreach activities related to FAO initiatives.
Reporting Lines
Under the overall supervision of FAO Representative in Namibia, the day-to-day supervision of the Assistant FAO Representative (Programme).
Tasks and responsibilities
• Working in close collaboration with the Programme Team, contribute to program development and implementation of projects.
• Support the management of the project cycle – including inserting project ideas/concept notes in corporate systems.
• Support project activities through work planning, budget management, monitoring and evaluation and follow-up with project partners to ensure all activities are implemented in accordance with the project logframe.
• Support the production of required project reports and or written outputs in accordance with FAO and / or donor requirements or procedures and ensuring the accuracy and timely submission of these reports.
• Support with creation of schedules for project activities indicated in the annual work plans to ensure all activities are completed on time, ensuring timely implementation of all activities while adhering to FAO rules and regulations.
• Collect and maintain records on project deliverables.
• Support the organization and coordination of workshops, consultations, training sessions, and other project events, including all related logistical arrangements and preparation of materials, meetings/workshop agenda topics etc.
• Provide information and inputs on reports, presentations, and communication materials.
• Maintain project records, filing systems, and contact databases.
• Participate in project meetings, prepare and share meeting minutes, and follow up on agreed actions.
• Perform any other duties as required.
CANDIDATES WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE FOLLOWING
Minimum Requirements
• At least a Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture, Forestry, Project Management, or any related field of study.
• Minimum of 3 years of working experience.
• Working knowledge (level C) of English.
• National of Namibia or resident of the country with valid work permit.
