About this position

We are looking for an enthusiastic, results-driven, and responsible individual to support the IDB Cities Lab’s communications and knowledge sharing strategy and implementation.

As a consultant, you will (i) design and implement a communications and dissemination strategy, and (ii) provide technical and operational support to develop knowledge products and events stemming from the activities of RG-T4323.

We are looking for an experienced Communications, Design, Urban Planning or Public Policy professional with solid technical knowledge and great writing and designing skills, capable of working as part of a multi-disciplinary team in support of public policing.

Given the data-driven approach of IDB's Cities LAB, required skills include the preparation of visuals and graphics, the creation of data journalism materials, and fundamental coding skills for developing webpages and managing digital data. These competencies are crucial for effective communication with the public and professional peers in the field.

You will work with the IDB’s Cities Lab in the Housing and Urban Development division. This team seeks to help LAC cities address urban development challenges with innovation, community participation, technology and data. The Cities Lab works with public sector leaders, as well as civil society, academia, and private sector, to increase efficiency, transparency, and participation in the design, delivery, and governance of urban infrastructure and services.

What you’ll do:

  • Support the generation of knowledge sharing products and events. Collaborate with subject matter experts in the development, edition, and dissemination of publications and other capacity building activities.
  • Design and implement a communications and dissemination strategy.
  • Develop and maintain a Cities Lab’s content and event calendar.
  • Upkeep the Cities Lab’s website.
  • Organize webinars and other events, prepare a one-pager per event, send out invitations, verify content, record the session, liaise with KIC before, during and after the event, among other tasks related to the execution of events.
  • Write and edit blogposts to disseminate events, activities and products.
  • Work closely with other team members to provide administrative support in other related activities.
  • Prepare and manage communication content utilizing digital data and spatial information.

  3. Proof of execution of at least two webinars/workshops. Prepare a report with detailed information on the objectives, targeted audience, speakers, participants, among other key variables. Develop a webinar/workshop plan.
  4. Portfolio of at least four publications, blogposts and other knowledge products developed.
  5. A final report that 1) summarizes and measures the impact of the communications and knowledge sharing products and activities; 2) identifies opportunities, suggests next steps, and gathers communication materials (social media posts, one-pagers, banners, among others) to increase the impact and reach other key stakeholders.
