| Description WBG Pioneers, the World Bank Group’s Internship Program, offers undergraduate and postgraduate students a high impact learning experience at the heart of global development. Participants gain hands on experience in a diverse and dynamic environment, contribute fresh perspectives and innovative ideas, and connect with international professionals working to end poverty on a livable planet. WBG Pioneer Background/Organizational Context The World Bank Group (WBG) Oman Country Office supports the Government of Oman in advancing economic diversification, private sector-led growth, job creation, human capital development, and sustainable development consistent with Oman Vision 2040. As WBG engagement in Oman continues to expand, there is increasing demand to communicate development results and showcase the impact of World Bank, IFC, and MIGA activities through compelling storytelling and digital engagement. Effective communications help strengthen stakeholder awareness, promote knowledge sharing, and highlight the voices of beneficiaries, partners, and institutions contributing to development outcomes. The Storytelling & Communications Intern will support the WBG Oman Office in producing high-quality communications content, including digital stories, short videos, social media content, and event communications materials. The internship offers an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in development communications while contributing to initiatives that support the WBG mission of ending extreme poverty and promoting shared prosperity on a livable planet. Duties and Responsibilities Under the supervision of the Country Office team, the intern will support communications, outreach, and storytelling activities across the WBG Oman portfolio. Storytelling and Content Development: • Identify and develop compelling stories highlighting the impact of WBG-supported initiatives in Oman. Video Production and Multimedia: • Assist in planning, filming, and editing short videos featuring WBG operations, events, and stakeholders. Social Media and Digital Communications: • Develop draft content for LinkedIn, X, Instagram, YouTube, and other digital platforms. Events and Stakeholder Engagement: • Support communications planning and execution for workshops, conferences, high-level visits, and stakeholder events. Research and Content Strategy: • Benchmark development communications and storytelling best practices from international organizations. Other Duties: • Provide communications support to the Country Office as required. Selection Criteria Academic Qualifications: • Currently enrolled in, or recently completed, postgraduate degree in Communications, Journalism, Media Studies, Marketing, Public Relations, International Development, Graphic Design, Film Production, or a related field. Professional Competencies: • Demonstrated interest in development communications and the mission of the World Bank Group. • Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills. • Experience creating content for digital and social media platforms. • Familiarity with video editing software and multimedia production tools. • Experience with graphic design tools such as Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or equivalent is desirable. • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously. • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively in a multicultural team environment. Languages: • Excellent written and spoken English required. • Arabic language skills strongly preferred. Personal Attributes: • Creativity and initiative. • Attention to detail. • Strong interpersonal and communication skills. • Interest in development issues and public policy. • Ability to produce high-quality outputs under tight deadlines.
