Organizational Context and Scope
Under the overall supervision of the Chief of Mission with Coordinating Functions (CoF) in IOM Senegal and direct supervision of the Senior Project Assistant in IOM Cabo Verde; and, in collaboration with relevant units at Headquarters and the Administrative Centers, the the successful candidate will be based in Praia, Cabo Verde and will have the following duties and responsibilities:
Undertake case management activities in an assigned area or areas, such as file integrity, program access, pre-screening, field team, adjudications support, scheduling or pre-departure services.
Undertake refugee form fill interviews for the purposes of recording biographical information, including, if assigned, accurately completing necessary forms, coordination with the UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency and other databases, scanning, photocopying, attaching and filing documents, translating basic documents, and photographing applicants in accordance with established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Assist with the organization and/or scheduling of refugee appointments, including, if assigned, running ad hoc reports, updating schedules and issuing notifications.
Assist in the implementation and monitoring of project activities.
Retrieve, compile, summarize, and present information/data on specific project topics.
Monitor budget; verify availability of funds; obtain necessary approval and update budget related information.
Support administrative coordination of project implementation, involving liaison with diverse organizational units and external parties to initiate requests, obtain necessary clearances, process and follow-up on administrative actions, etc.
Draft status reports, identifying shortfalls in delivery and bringing them to the attention of the supervisor.
Draft correspondence, reports, briefing notes, graphics, statistical tables, presentations and other forms of documentation.
Organize meetings, workshops and training sessions.
Respond to general information requests and inquiries; set up and maintain files/records. Perform such other duties as may be assigned.
Required Qualifications and Experience
Education
School diploma with four years of relevant experience; or,
Bachelor’s degree in Political or Social Sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, Migration Studies, Human Rights, Law or related fields from an accredited academic institution with two years of relevant professional experience.
Accredited Universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database.
Experience
Experience in liaising with governmental authorities, national/international institutions, United Nations agencies and non-governmental organizations;
Experience in working with migrants, refugees, internally displaced persons, victims of trafficking and other vulnerable groups; and,
Prior work experience with international humanitarian organizations, non-government or government institutions/organization in a multi-cultural setting is an advantage.

Excellent computer skills - Word, Excel and Internet
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Languages
All IOM staff members in all categories are required to be fluent in one of the IOM's official languages (English, French, Spanish).
For this position, fluency in Portuguese and English is required (oral and written). Working knowledge of French is desirable.
Proficiency of language(s) required will be specifically evaluated during the selection process, which may include written and/or oral assessments.
