IDB Invest is the private sector arm of the IDB Group and an international financial institution committed to addressing the development needs of Latin America and the Caribbean. Our mission is to support sustainable enterprises and projects that deliver financial results while maximizing social and environmental impact in the region.
IDB Invest operates in 26 countries, structured across four geographic regions and three industry verticals: Infrastructure and Energy, Financial Intermediaries, and Corporates.
In support of a new transformative business model “Originate to Share” our shareholders recently approved a $3.5 billion capitalization. This will allow IDB Invest to significantly scale up its investments, to approximately $19 billion, and unlocking greater private sector participation to drive development and climate impact across the region.
We are looking for a Corporate Governance Lead Officer/Senior Officer, who will support the design and implementation of IDB Invest’s operations, ensuring that the financed projects and other activities are sustainable, comply with the IDB Invest’s policies, and internationally recognized best practices regarding corporate governance (“CG”).
You will work within the Environmental, Social & Governance (SEG) Division, part of the Risk Management Department (RSM) of IDB Invest. The CG team works with investment officers and clients to define the steps necessary to improve corporate governance, addressing compliance gaps vis-à-vis international best practices, identifying opportunities to proactively add value and contribute to long-term development impact and sustainability. The CG team focuses specifically on CG risks and opportunities, working with companies, boards of directors, and senior management, as well as engaging in market activities with the overall objective of improving governance and thereby enhancing sustainability.
The CG team is responsible for reviewing and appraising proposed IDB Invest operations for compliance with the IDB Invest’s CG Guidelines, as well as deploying technical assistance and developing new CG procedures, tools and products as needed. CG team members develop recommendations and requirements for client action and incorporate these into applicable internal and client-related documentation to facilitate financing; monitor the CG performance of operations in the IDB Invest portfolio; and work to mobilize technical support for clients to improve the governance outcomes of operations. Members of the CG team work closely and coordinate with other organizational teams of IDB Invest and the IDB Group as a whole, as needed, to accomplish these functions.
National staff contract, 36 months initially, renewable upon mutual agreement.
