Job Description

Mission and objectives

The United Nations World Food Programme is the world’s largest humanitarian organization saving lives in emergencies and using food assistance to build a pathway to peace, stability and prosperity for people recovering from conflict, disasters and the impact of climate change.

Context

As part of WFP Sudan’s emergency response, communication materials need to be translated swiftly and accurately between English and Arabic. This includes press releases, social media content, field reports, human-interest stories, advocacy materials, and fact sheets used to inform the public and partners, and counter misinformation.

Task Description

We are seeking 5 Online Volunteers, grouped as follows: Group A – Arabic to English Translators (4 volunteers) Translate 5 social media posts per week, 5 beneficiary interviews and 5 reports from Arabic into English. Translate donor materials such as 5 press releases, and 5 progress reports Group B – Proofread the translated materials, (1 volunteer) Ensure translations are accurate, contextualized, and culturally appropriate. Simplify technical content for public readability while retaining accuracy.
