Unit Context:
 
The ITS Financial Technology (ITSFT) unit enables key functions of the WBG Finance and Accounting vice-presidency and its corporate partners such as financial management, payments and disbursements, new lending product deployment, financial accounting, institutional analytics, and external reporting.  The unit also operates and evolves WBG ERP and the external client digital banking platform and supports WFA financial technology innovation.

Duties and accountabilities: 

Role Purpose: 

The Associate Platform Engineer executes the design, implementation, and lifecycle management of internal platforms that enable secure, scalable software delivery. Working under guidance, this role collaborates with technical teams and applies to modern cloud technologies, automation, DevOps, SRE practices, integration, web hosting, and middleware alongside data platform management and identity governance. It delivers standardized, automated self‑service workflows, adheres to platform guardrails and observability, and continuously improves reliability, compliance, security, and cost across hybrid and multi‑cloud environments to meet organizational needs while reducing developer cognitive load.

• Performs professional-level research and analysis in the field of specialization.

• Proposes solutions to moderately complex problems in the field of specialization.

• Seeks common ground and negotiates issues with internal and/or external clients to recommend for higher-level approval.

• Provides knowledge-based guidance to more junior staff within the job area.

• Requires practical application of professional knowledge at a broad-based level to complete difficult assignments.
 
Key Responsibilities: 

• ERP System Engineering, Management and Administration (SAP Basis)

• ERP System Administration for SAP ECC/S4/BW to include but not limited to: Security, User provision, Role management, bugfix/hotfix management

• ERP Management for SAP Interfaces, Process Orchestration, HANA Database, Audit findings remediation, ICFR Compliance

• Support for Month, Quarter, End of year financial closing

• Support ERP Related bot (RPA) integrations/issues/fixes/security

Platform Design & Implementation

• Develops, implements and maintains scalable platform solutions to enhance system performance and reliability

• Collaborates with cross-functional teams to define platform requirements and ensure alignment with project goals and business objectives

• Executes platform design reviews and provides input on best practices

Continuous Monitoring & Improvement

• Participates in the evaluation and integration of new technologies to optimize platform capabilities and drive innovation

• Helps monitor system performance and troubleshoots issues promptly to maintain uptime

• Performs regular assessments to evaluate the effectiveness of platform solutions and proactively identify areas for improvement

Security Management

• Supports collaboration with security teams to implement and maintain platform security measures, ensuring compliance with best practices

• Executes vulnerability assessments and contributes to the development of remediation strategies

Selection Criteria

Education & Experience:  

• Typically requires a Master's degree with 5 years of experience or a Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
