Organizational Context and Scope

IOM provides comprehensive support to the United States Refugee Admissions Program (USRAP), including case processing, migration health assessments, cultural orientation training, organized transportation, and administration of the travel loan and collections program. The Department of Mobility Pathways and Inclusion (MPI), through the Resettlement and Movement Management Division (RMM), holds organizational responsibility for providing direction, oversight, and guidance to IOM’s worldwide support for all resettlement programs.  

Under the direct supervision of the Head of USRAP Travel Loan Program (TLP) and the overall supervision of the USRAP Global Coordinator, the Project Coordinator will have the following duties and responsibilities: 

Required Qualifications and Experience

Education

• Master’s degree in Social Science, International Relations/Affairs, Law, Research, Regional Studies, Finance, Computer Sciences, Statistics, Business Administration or a related field from an accredited academic institution with five years of relevant professional experience; or
• Bachelor’s degree in the above fields with seven years of relevant professional experience.

Accredited Universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database.

Experience

• Experience working with migrants, civil society, and governments;
• Proven experience in leading and managing a multidisciplinary team;
• Experience liaising with senior-level IOM and external stakeholders;
• Experience working in Resettlement and Movement Management or USRAP is an advantage; and,
• Proven track record embedding regulatory compliance.

Skills

• Strong knowledge of IOM and inter-agency protection standards and operational procedures and guidelines;
• Solid coordination skills;
• Strong writing, editing, presentation and training facilitation skills;
• Excellent computer skills: excellent knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and email/internet software, statistical analysis packages;
• ​Knowledge of Structured Query Language (SQL) is an advantage; 
• Ability to gather, consolidate, and attribute information from multiple sources, as well as process design;
• High degree of judgment and initiative, ability to work with a high degree of independence within assigned areas; 
• Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills; and,
• Proven ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with people of diverse cultural and national backgrounds.

Languages

OM's official languages are English, French, and Spanish.

For this position, fluency in English is required (oral and written). Working knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, and Spanish) is an advantage.

Proficiency of language(s) required will be specifically evaluated during the selection process, which may include written and/or oral assessments.
