Job Description

As an Internal Auditor, you will participate within the Internal Audit team to perform risk-based audits and contribute to strengthening governance, risk management, and internal controls across the Organization and its Pension Fund. You will gain hands-on experience and develop valuable skills in audit planning, reporting, and stakeholder collaboration.

Your responsibilities

  • Perform internal audits, delivering risk-based and objective assurance.
  • Prepare clear audit reports with factual observations and actionable recommendations, and follow up on their implementation.
  • Contribute to creating risk-based audit plans for CERN and its Pension Fund.
  • Support the Audit Committee meetings.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including External Auditors.
  • Ensure alignment with Global Internal Audit Standards.
  • Participate in quality assurance and improvement initiatives.
  • Stay informed on CERN activities and professional developments through training.

Your profile

  • Knowledge or experience in IT auditing or IT systems.
  • Familiarity with accounting principles.
  • Professional certifications such as CIA, CISA, CFE, CA/CPA are a plus.

Skills

  • Strong communication and active listening skills, with the ability to present ideas clearly and effectively while adapting style and content to suit different audiences.
  • Capable of analysing complex information, identifying key issues, and providing clear, concise conclusions using a structured, pragmatic approach; objective decision-making based on available facts is essential.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively in teams while managing tasks autonomously.
  • Integrity, respect, diplomacy, and tact.
  • Data analytics skills.
  • Spoken and written English, with a commitment to learn French.

Eligibility criteria:

  • You are a national of a CERN Member or Associate Member State.
  • By the application deadline, you have a maximum of two years of professional experience since graduation in Auditing, Accounting, Finance, Economics (or a related field) and your highest educational qualification is either a Bachelor's or Master's degree.
  • You have never had a CERN fellow or graduate contract before.
  • Applicants without University degree are not eligible.
  • Applicants with a PhD are not eligible.

Additional Information

Job closing date: 01.04.2026 at 23:59 CEST.

Contract duration: 24 months, with a possible extension up to 36 months maximum.

Working hours: 40 hours per week
