Department Context 

ITS Operations and Country Engagement Department (ITSOE) delivers innovative products and services to frontline staff working on over 6,000 projects throughout every Region and Global Practice. Our teams support and enable Bank priorities, boost operations efficiency and effectiveness, and facilitate operational knowledge discovery. Our delivery model leverages global expertise, design and architecture, leading technology, and robust processes to deliver business solutions that ensure value for money.

Unit Context

The ITS Operations Products unit (ITSOP) enables digital enablement of the Bank's business processes through a modern, flexible, and user-friendly digital platform that integrates and optimizes critical functions for thousands of front-line staff. It also drives the delivery of AI-powered business solutions to support business priorities and accelerate data-driven decision-making across the institution.

Duties and Accountabilities

Research strategy and planning

• Define research plans that align with ITSOP’s product roadmaps and institutional priorities; scope studies across discovery, generative, evaluative, and post-release phases.

• Select appropriate methods (interviews, contextual inquiry/field studies, diary studies, surveys, usability testing, card sorting, etc.) based on research questions and constraints.

End-user and stakeholder engagement

• Recruit and interview diverse participants representing front-line staff roles, geographies, languages, accessibility needs, and operational contexts; to capture workflows, pain points, heuristics, and decision-making patterns tied to critical functions.

AI-powered solution research

• Prototypes and investigate user trust, explainability needs, and human-in-the-loop requirements for AI features; identify risks of bias and unintended consequences.

Experience Design  and communication

• Use AI-assisted design tools to accelerate artifact creation (personas, journey maps, task flows, wireframes, prototypes), generate initial design variants, and auto-generate research summaries and readouts—followed by expert review and refinement.

• Translate insights into actionable design recommendations, hypotheses for MVPs, and measurable success criteria.

Usability, accessibility, and platform fit

• Run iterative usability studies, prototypes and live features, benchmark usability across platform components and shared patterns.

• Ensure compliance with accessibility standards (WCAG) and existing design system, advocate for platform reuse and pattern consistency.

• Track adoption and success rates for rolled out features.

Collaboration and influence

• Partner closely with product managers, designers, engineers, data teams, and change/adoption leads to ensure insights inform decisions.

• Present findings to stakeholders; facilitate alignment workshops; support governance reviews with user evidence.

Deliverables

• User research roadmap aligned to ITSOP priorities and release trains; study briefs and protocols.

• Participant recruitment plan and consent/ethics materials; diverse participant panel.

• Roll-out and adoption of AI enabled Experience design process with future state workflows, agent orchestration and hand-offs. 

• Insight artifacts: persona/archetypes, journey maps, service blueprints, prioritized opportunities.

• Experience artifact deliverables with AI trust and explainability findings; human-in-the-loop guidelines for AI features.

• Usability analysis/test reports with severity ratings, and remediation recommendations.

• Accessibility audit reports and improvement plans.

• Decision dashboards: user-centered KPIs and telemetry-backed insights.

• Executive summaries and stakeholder readouts; workshop materials.

• Post-release evaluation reports and recommendations for iteration.

Selection Criteria

• Master’s degree in Arts/computer science/STEM with 6 years relevant experience or bachelor’s degree in computer science with a minimum of 8 years relevant experience spanning UX research and product/design collaboration in enterprise environments; demonstrated impact on shipped features or products.

• Degree in HCI, Cognitive Science, Psychology, Information/Computer Science, or related field; advanced degree a plus.

• Experience using AI-assisted design tools to generate and iterate on artifacts such as personas, journeys, wireframes

• Proficiency in qualitative and quantitative methods and research operations, plus experience applying AI-assisted analysis to accelerate insight generation.

• Demonstrated experience with workflow/process analysis, service/journey mapping; ability to translate findings into agentic workflows and acceptance criteria.

• Hands-on familiarity with AI-powered products and human–AI interaction research; experience designing leveraging Vibe prototyping tools such as Lovable and Replit.

• Ability to define usability, adoption, trust, and safety metrics; experience partnering on telemetry/instrumentation and building dashboards to monitor outcomes.

• Working knowledge of responsible AI principles, human-in-the-loop design, privacy/security considerations, and risk mitigations (e.g., guardrails, explanations, confidence cues).

• Proficiency with research/design/analytics toolchains (Figma, Mural, analytics platforms; basic familiarity with LLM prompt tools, vector search,).

• Strong storytelling and stakeholder influence skills; ability to communicate AI concepts and evidence-based recommendations to technical and non-technical audiences.

• Excellent written and spoken English and communication skills
