Job Description

Every person has the right to live in safety, and yet domestic and family violence is a regular occurrence in Australia. Help us do our part to change this reality in the Toowoomba Region. Save the Children is one of the largest providers of DFV refuge services in Queensland – be part of this dynamic network of teams working together to deliver high quality support.

54 reasons is Australia’s leading child rights organisation – no ordinary not-for-profit.

Proudly part of the Save the Children Australia Group and global movement, we’re here to make sure that children and young people have their rights met and thrive, in all their diversity.

With the child’s voice at the centre, we provide quality services to children and their caregivers in every state and territory, and across regions, remote areas and capital cities. From our programs to our support services - this is the place to realise your purpose.

A place to make a difference:

In this full-time, maximum term position (funded till 30th June 2028), you’ll be based in one of our DFV refuges based in the Toowoomba Region. As Team Leader, you will be responsible for providing high quality supervision, support, and leadership for a team of three providing specialist DFV and child-focused case management and outreach.

You will make an impact by:

  • Providing effective leadership to a team of practitioners; including the provision of feedback, direct supervision, coaching, development, capability building and performance management at stages of the employee lifecycles, with a focus on developing strong and sustainable teams
  • Ensuring timely and accurate monitoring, evaluation and reporting on programmatic inputs, deliverables and outcomes
  • Maintaining effective stakeholder relationships by liaising and consulting with local communities, professionals, service providers and referral services to ensure our services are meeting client and contractual obligations
  • Identifying, managing and monitoring risks to program/service delivery, quality, staff wellbeing and Child Safeguarding
  • Being an active and contributing member of the Southern Queensland DFV Programs leadership team

Does this sound like you?

Your deep expertise in domestic and family violence and how it impacts families and communities ensuring strength based, trauma informed practice will be invaluable. Your strong leadership skills will allow you to motivate and guide a high performing team, and you have a genuine passion to support and manage teams to achieve positive outcomes for children and young people. You foster a collaborative outcome driven culture, and you model effective communication to foster a positive and inclusive work environment.

This role requires:

  • A Bachelor of Social Work, Psychology or relevant Human Service Qualification and/or significant experience managing a similar service
  • Knowledge of best practice, professional standards, legislation and relevant research in the field of domestic and family violence
  • Experience in coaching, mentoring and the transfer of skills and knowledge to others
  • A current valid driver’s licence

A place to belong:
