Job Description

There’s something special about spending your days alongside like-minded people, just as committed to purposeful work as you. At Save the Children Australia, we attract bright and big-hearted people who are inspired to make a difference. Together, we are fearless in our pursuit of making lasting change for the children and communities who need it most.

A place to make a difference:

In this full-time permanent role, you’ll work as a part of our Technology team in our Melbourne head office to help us create lasting change for children everywhere.

The Test Lead plays a critical role in building an organisation‑wide testing capability that lifts quality across all technology initiatives in Australia and the Pacific. Reporting to the CIO, the role combines hands‑on testing with strategic leadership to embed a quality‑first culture and ensure technology solutions are robust, secure, and fit for purpose. By developing effective testing strategies, strengthening team capability, and implementing scalable frameworks, the Test Lead ensures systems—from Finance and HRIS to enterprise applications—reliably support our people, partners, and the communities we serve.

You will make a difference by:

  • Leading and implementing an organisationwide testing strategy, establishing standards, riskbased approaches, and best practices aligned with the technology roadmap.
  • Building sustainable testing capability through training, mentoring, documentation, and fostering a qualityfirst culture across all technical and nontechnical teams.
  • Overseeing test planning and execution across all testing types (functional, integration, regression, performance, security, UAT), including environment and data management.
  • Driving test automation and technical excellence, implementing automation frameworks, CI/CD quality gates, security testing, and modern testing tools.
  • Engaging and communicating with stakeholders, partnering across project, development, and business teams to align testing approaches, manage UAT, and report on quality and risks.
  • Continuously improving testing processes, collaborating crossfunctionally, integrating testing into team workflows, and evolving practices based on lessons learned and organisational needs.

A place to feel valued:

You will be a collaborative, adaptable, and mission‑aligned professional with testing experience across diverse environments, including cloud platforms, accessibility standards, security testing, and distributed teams.

This role requires:

  • Extensive experience in end‑to‑end process and software testing across the full lifecycle, from planning and design to execution and reporting.
  • Demonstrated capability in leading testing for complex enterprise systems, with strong proficiency across all major testing types and methodologies.
  • Proven ability to build organisational testing capability, including mentoring, training, and embedding quality‑driven practices.
  • Skills in test automation, modern testing tools, scripting, and integrating testing within Agile and DevSecOps delivery models.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and organisational skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts, manage multiple testing streams, and drive defect resolution.

A place to belong:

We are diverse personalities, backgrounds and talents, embracing our differences as one strong and united team. We see and celebrate the unique value you bring to our organisation, and offer a range of rewards for your effort, including:

  • Opportunity to work on additional projects to enable you to stretch and feel connected to programs in a different way
  • Individual learning plans to help map and deliver on your career development.
  • Support for workplace wellness, including access to our free, confidential Employee Wellbeing Program
  • Celebrate and feel supported in your diversity. We have a highly inclusive culture and diverse workforce reflecting the communities we serve, allowing you to bring your whole self to work (if that’s what you want!).
