Duties and Responsibilities
The International Trade Centre (ITC) is a joint agency of the United Nations and World Trade Organization based in Geneva. ITC’s mission is to enable small business export success in developing and transition- economy countries, by providing, with partners, sustainable and inclusive development solutions to the private sector, trade support institutions (TSIs) and policymakers. About the ITC SheTrades Initiative SheTrades, ITC's flagship Women and Trade programme, strives to eliminate barriers to women's trade participation. By engaging governments, the private sector, and entrepreneurs, SheTrades enhances the business capabilities of women, promoting a fairer and more sustainable global economy. The initiative targets all stakeholders in the trade and business ecosystem, offering women entrepreneurs access to essential knowledge, resources, and networks. Furthermore, it supports policymakers in adopting inclusive policies and fosters public and private partnerships to amplify the impact. About WEIDE The Women Exporters in the Digital Economy (WEIDE) Fund, jointly established by the World Trade Organization (WTO) and the International Trade Centre (ITC), aims to connect women-led micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to international trade opportunities through digital technologies. The WEIDE Fund will unlock opportunities in international trade and digital trade for women entrepreneurs in Dominican Republic, Jordan, Nigeria and Mongolia by improving their access to: • Funds: providing grants and working with financial institutions to close the access to finance gap. • Skills, knowledge, and competences: providing technical assistance and access to information related to digital skills and export competitiveness. • Markets: connecting women to digital market platforms. • Networks and support services: creating more inclusive and effective business ecosystems including leveraging partnerships with private and public sector actors. The Fund consists of three main bodies: a) The Board decides on policy and strategy, approves the annual work plan, and is responsible for overseeing the activities of the Technical Committee. b) The Technical Committee reports to the Board and is responsible for preparing and submitting annual work plans to the Board, approving applications to the Fund, approving the annual report, and appointing dedicated special task forces. c) The Secretariat of the Fund is located at ITC and is bound by the legal and fiduciary rules of ITC Trust Fund which supports the activities of the Fund. The Secretariat is responsible for the overall coordination and day-to-day management of the Fund, and the implementation of the Fund’s annual work plan. The Secretariat is located within ITC Women, Youth, and Vulnerable Communities (WYVC) Section, in particular ITC SheTrades Initiative. About the SheTrades business oriented soft-skills (BOSS) training program Success in business is not only about technical knowledge. Women-led businesses often face barriers linked to confidence, communication, negotiation, and leadership, which can limit their ability to access and grow in regional and international markets. The SheTrades business oriented soft-skills (BOSS) training programme aims to address these barriers by strengthening key competencies such as assertive communication, negotiation, communication, emotional intelligence, and leadership. The programme includes practical workshops, role plays, and applied tools focusing on planning, pitching, and preparing for negotiations and networking. Coaching sessions will use the GROW model to support women entrepreneurs to set realistic goals, identify options, make decisions, and strengthen follow-through. The module in the training programme, that will be covered is the Communicating About My Business training. The training’s focus areas are business communication skills, assertive communication, pitching, negotiation Under the ITC SheTrades Initiative framework, ITC seeks a home-based consultant in Jordan to deliver these trainings. Responsibilities include preparing outreach materials, supporting mobilization, adapting training content to match the country context and participants’ needs, and delivering both online and on-site workshops. Please note that ITC intends to contract two (2) trainers under separate contracts to jointly deliver the trainings and coaching activities under this assignment. OBJECTIVES The consultant will support the successful roll-out of the SheTrades BOSS Programme in Jordan by adapting, delivering, and reinforcing capacity-building activities that empower women entrepreneurs on mindset and self-confidence, communicating effectively, goal setting, time management and planning strategically, and strengthening negotiation and pitching skills. The consultant’s responsibilities will include: A. Participation in WEIDE briefing sessions • Participate in joint briefing session(s) for women entrepreneurs and trainers to: o Gain exposure to the WEIDE programme and its objectives. o Connect with selected women entrepreneurs. o Learn ITC training methodologies, facilitation approaches, adult learning principles, and participatory techniques used by ITC master trainers. • Apply the knowledge gained to deliver high-quality, contextually relevant soft skills training for women entrepreneurs in Jordan. B. Participation in the Training of Trainers (ToT) The consultant is expected to participate in the online ToT (tentatively scheduled for mid March to mid-April 2026). The objective of the ToT is to equip the consultant with the knowledge and skills to effectively train women entrepreneurs on the “Communicating About My Business” module. The ToT will cover: • How to plan and design needs-based training, including preparation of sessions and selection of activities that support different stages of adult learning. • Key approaches for delivering and facilitating the “Communicating About My Business” module. • Techniques for monitoring and evaluating training delivery. C. Adaptation and preparation of materials • Contextualize ITC SheTrades training materials (presentations, workbooks, exercises, and tools) to reflect the realities and challenges of women entrepreneurs in Jordan. • Ensure materials remain aligned with ITC’s gender-responsive and results-oriented learning objectives. • Finalize the delivery plan for in-person and online training per course roll-out. • Translate materials into Arabic and/or review and validate Arabic translations to ensure accuracy, clarity, and contextual relevance. D. Delivery of trainings and coaching activities The consultant will be responsible for independently delivering the following activities: 1. Three (3) one-day in-person soft skills trainings, aligned to the BOSS modules, covering business communication, assertive communication, pitching, negotiation, team work, delegation, goal setting, mindset etc. 2. Six (6) group coaching sessions (“Motivation Labs”) (2 hours each), to reinforce application of communication, pitching, and negotiation skills and maintain momentum across the programme courses. Indicative topics may include: • From Awareness to Action (e.g., goal-mapping) • Time management and balancing multiple roles • Stress management and well-being • Pitching practice and feedback • Negotiation skills 3. Peer Circle accountability sessions and community-building support, in collaboration with the partner BSO, to maintain momentum and support workbook completion for finance and digital requirements and track progress. This may include proposing and scheduling regular meet-ups and networking sessions (a mix of structured sessions and informal gatherings, virtual and/or in-person). E. Safeguarding and referrals • Support awareness raising on gender-based violence by sharing vetted referral resources only (names, contact details, short description of services). • The consultant will not provide counselling, legal advice, or case management, and will follow ITC safeguarding and PSEA guidance and available reporting mechanisms. F. Monitoring, evaluation, and reporting • Tailor and administer ITC SheTrades pre- and post-assessment tools to capture learning outcomes. • Monitor training progress and collect feedback from participants. • Prepare training reports using the ITC reporting template, including: o Summary of training outcomes and participant feedback. o Challenges encountered and success stories (e.g., observable behaviour change). o Recommendations, risks, and lessons learned for future rollouts. Copyright: The consultant has to ensure that she has obtained the necessary permissions with regard to intellectual property rights required to perform her services under this consultancy contract and for the subsequent dissemination by ITC in any form. Documentary proof is to be submitted to ITC. Should any license fee be due for the use of copyrighted materials of third parties, the consultant shall request prior written permission from ITC. Qualifications/special skills
• Bachelor’s degree in Information and Communication Technology (ICT), Education, Business, Communications, Gender Studies, Psychology, International Development, or Trade. • Extensive professional experience in a relevant field may be considered in place of formal educational requirements. • Minimum experience of 3 years in training and coaching on topics such as: leadership, emotional intelligence, business fields such sales, negotiation or a related field. • Previous background in training, mentoring and coaching adults, especially women. • Experience in applying adult learning principles and participatory workshop facilitation and coaching. • Previous work on gender-inclusive initiatives • Experience working in trade and business-related contexts, preferably in the digital sector is a plus. Desirable: • Previous experience in working on trade and gender. • Employed or has strong engagement in women’s chamber of commerce or other Women Business Association with strong networking skills and outreach capacity Skils: • Strong communication, marketing, and outreach expertise. • Strong diplomatic skills, with a demonstrated capacity to manage sensitive information and high-level stakeholder engagement. • Excellent facilitation and presentation skills, both written and oral. • Adaptable and culturally sensitive, with a demonstrated ability to maintain effective partnerships in multi-cultural environments. • Essential ability to engage diverse groups and tailor training materials to specific audience needs. • Keen attention to detail while delivering high-quality results under tight deadlines. • Ability to work reliably and independently with minimum supervision; • Previous experience producing communication materials focused on trade and development (highly desirable).
