SOLIDARITES INTERNATIONAL (SI) is an international humanitarian aid association which, since more than 40 years, has been providing assistance to populations affected by armed conflicts and natural disasters by meeting their basic needs for food, water and shelter. Particularly committed to the fight against diseases linked to unsafe water, the leading cause of death in the world, SI's interventions provide expertise in the field of access to drinking water, sanitation and hygiene promotion, but also in the essential area of food security and livelihoods. Present in 26 countries, the SI teams – 3200 people in total, made up of expatriates, national staff, permanent staff at HQ, and a few volunteers - intervene with professionalism and commitment while respecting cultural norms.
SI mission in Ethiopia is slowly but surely establishing its boots on the ground. SI is officially registered in December 2022 in Ethiopia, initiated its first WASH project in November 2023 in the Mao Komo Special Woreda of the Benishangul Gumuz Region to rehabilitate water points in areas affected by conflict and lacking prior humanitarian support. Currently SI is implementing project activities in two different regions in the northern part of the country (Tigray and Amhara). In Tigray, GFFO livelihoods and WASH project is underway until end of June 30th, 2026, and expected to be extended by one year in Central Zone bordering Eritrea namely Rama, Ashea and Chilla Woredas. In Amhara alongside PUI operating from a shared base in Motta (East Gojjam), to provide emergency WASH and Multi-Purpose Cash Assistance (MPCA) in conflict-affected, hard-to-reach areas funded by French government (CDCS). SI has submitted two separate DG-ECHO proposals, one for Tigray and the second of Amhara. In addition, we are on process of requesting an extension for CDCS project in Amhara and submitted extension request to GFFO for Tigray/Amhara.
The Coordination team is composed of a Country Director, A Surge Support Services Coordinator, and Surge Program Coordinator. Two employees supporting the Support Services and deputy program coordinator are present in the capital. Two expat FieldCos for the two regions (Tigray and Amhara), 11 and 7 national team members respectively. Although the current project in Motta (East Gojjam) is running until end of June 2026, due to completion of activities and limited resources, staff contracts will be ending at the end of April 2026 and rehiring of few selected positions is expected to be conducted in June/July for the extension period and/or the new project.
GENERAL OBJECTIVES
As part of the coordination team and reporting to the country director and working closely with the program and support departments at coordination level, as well as the base teams, the Grant Manager is the mission’s focal point on ensuring accountability to donors. Specifically, he/she is in charge of:
• Contributing to the mission’s strategic development.
• Monitoring and identifying funding opportunities in line with SI country and global strategy.
• Overseeing compilation of timely and high quality proposals, reports and contract modification requests for submission to donors and consortium partners.
• Monitoring compliance with donor procedures and capacity building of new and existing staff on internal accountability tools and donor procedures.
• Proactively following-up on donor contractual obligations, from contracting to closing and archiving, and ensuring contractual obligations are known and understood by relevant staff/departments.
• Centralizing and preparing relevant documentation for external audits and audit report archiving.

This is the first position in the mission; the candidate is expected to establish the department and create a vision. In this competitive landscape of funding, building and fostering long term partnerships with international and local partners.
PRIORITIES ON THE 2-3 FIRST MONTHS
SECURITY CONSTRAINTS
Addis remains relatively stable compared to other regions in Ethiopia, but incidents involving robbery, assault, and petty theft do occur in Addis. Although there is active conflict in Amhara and tension in Tigray, the area where we are operating is relatively peaceful, but one should strictly adherence to security rules and guidelines, even in the absence of a specific stated threat.
DIPLOMAS AND EXPERIENCE
| A degree (or equivalent field experience) in Finance, Economy, Social Sciences, Political Science, Law or similar. or a related field is required. |

LANGUAGES
Fluency in written and spoken English is essential. Knowledge of the local language(s) (e.g., Amharic, Tigrigna) is a strong asset.
A salaried position:
According to experience, starting from EUR 2310 gross per month (2100 EUR base salary + 10% annual leave allowance paid monthly) and a monthly Per Diem of USD 400.
SI also covers accommodation costs and travel expenses between the expatriate's country of origin and the place of assignment.
Breaks: During the assignment, a system of alternation between work and time off is implemented at the rate of 7 working days every three months (with a USD 850 break allowance, allocated by Sl). To these breaks periods, SI grants one (1) additional rest day per month worked.
Insurance package: Expatriates benefit from an insurance package which refunds all healthcare expenses (including medical and surgical expenses, dental care and ophthalmological expenses, repatriation) and a welfare system including war risks. Essential vaccination and antimalarial treatment costs are refunded.
LIVING CONDITIONS:
Guest House conditions:- There is a shared guesthouse both in Addis and at the project locations during the visit.
Internet and telephone network: - Available in all locations Addis, Adwa and Motta.
Restaurant & social life: - Restaurants are available in Addis, and Adwa but in Motta and Lalibela it is very limited: - Social life in Adwa and Motta is also limited. All the basics food items and others are available in Addis but there is strict limitations and taxation on importation of food. Food in your luggage, however, is allowed and you can stock up on specials from home. Good quality chocolate, cereals and dried meat products can be hard to find and/or very expensive.
