The Global Green Growth Institute internship program provides a unique learning opportunity for students and recent graduates from diverse academic backgrounds. The program is designed for talented and motivated individuals skilled in areas relevant to GGGI’s operations. The program allows selected candidates to gain insight into the work of the Institute and provides assistance and training in various professional fields in a multicultural environment. We encourage applications from qualified women and men, in particular nationals of developing countries with diverse professional, academic, and cultural backgrounds.

CURRENT OPPORTUNITY

GGGI is seeking a Project Support Intern for the implementation of the ASEAN–Korea Cooperation for Methane Mitigation (AKCMM) Project, a regional initiative funded by the ASEAN–Korea Cooperation Fund (AKCF) and implemented across selected ASEAN Member States. The AKCMM Project aims to improve methane emissions inventories and Measurement, Reporting and Verification (MRV) systems while supporting the design and implementation of national Methane Reduction Plans. It targets key methane-emitting sectors and facilitates knowledge exchange and technology cooperation between ASEAN and the Republic of Korea.

The intern will work closely with the AKCMM Project Team based at GGGI HQ and contribute to operational, administrative, and technical tasks related to project implementation in Malaysia and Brunei.

The assignment will include, but not be limited to, the following tasks:

1. Operations and Administrative Support

  • Provide administrative and operational support to the AKCMM Project Manager and Senior Associate in the day-to-day implementation of project activities.
  • Assist in organizing and coordinating project events, including mission trips, meetings, workshops, and capacity-building activities (e.g., preparation of participant lists, agendas, presentation materials, and logistical arrangements).
  • Support scheduling, correspondence, and follow-up actions with project partners, consultants, and country counterparts.
  • Assist in preparing and tracking administrative documents related to project implementation, such as mission schedules and internal reporting templates.
  • Maintain and organize project files, databases, and document repositories to ensure accurate record-keeping and easy retrieval of project information.
  • Support basic procurement and financial coordination tasks as required (e.g., compiling supporting documents, tracking expenses, and coordinating operations teams).
  • Provide general administrative assistance to the project team as needed to ensure smooth project operations.

2. Technical and Research Support

  • Support the review of outputs and deliverables of consulting firms and individual consultants working on the project.
  • Assist in drafting inputs for technical reports, project deliverables, concept notes, and knowledge products related to methane mitigation and climate policy.
  • Support data collection and analysis related to methane inventories, gap analyses, and mitigation opportunities.
  • Support the preparation of presentation materials, briefing notes, and technical summaries for project meetings and workshops.

3. Communications and Knowledge Management

  • Working closely with the ROA communications team, assist in producing, reviewing, and proofreading technical and communication materials (e.g., AKCMM website, press release, and social media content) in line with GGGI and AKCF guidelines.
  • Support preparation of content for internal updates, donor reporting, and project visibility materials.
  • Help compile lessons learned and good practices emerging from country-level implementation.

ELIGIBILITY

Applicants to the GGGI internship program must, at the time of application, meet the following requirements:

  • Be enrolled in the final year of a Bachelor’s program, or be enrolled in or have recently completed a Master’s or PhD program within the last 12 months.
  • Be engaged or recently engaged in academic study in a field directly related to the Institute’s work.
  • Applicants must be available to commit to the full internship duration as agreed with the supervising staff.
  • Possess an excellent command of English.

QUALIFICATION
  • Currently enrolled in, or a recent graduate within the last 12 months of, a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD program in environmental science, climate change, engineering, economics, international development, public policy, urban planning, or a related field.
  • Well-organized, detail-oriented, and able to support administrative and operational tasks in a project-based environment.
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English is required; knowledge of Malay (Bahasa Malaysia) or other ASEAN languages is a strong asset.
  • Strong research, analytical, and writing skills, with the ability to draft technical notes, reports, and communication materials.
  • Experience or demonstrated interest in greenhouse gas emissions, methane mitigation, climate policy, MRV systems, or related technical areas is an advantage.
  • Proficiency in preparing visual and presentation materials (e.g., infographics, PowerPoint); experience with design software (e.g., Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, or Photoshop) is desirable but not required.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multicultural team environment and manage multiple tasks at the same time.

SELECTION PROCESS
  • Applications submitted after the deadline will not be considered.
  • GGGI evaluates applications based on eligibility requirements, relevance of academic study and work experience (if any); and the level of interest and motivation to contribute to development work.
  • Due to the high volume of applications, only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.
