Organizational Setting and Reporting Relationship

The position of Associate Investment Officer is assigned to the Equity Investment Unit in the Office of the Director General (OPSD-EIU) within the Private Sector Operations Department (PSOD). You will be based at our Headquarters in Manila, Philippines.

You will report to the designated International Staff and Officer (senior/principal/lead, as applicable).

Your Role

As an Associate Investment Officer, you will support direct equity investments in the processing and portfolio stages.

You will:

a. Origination and Processing

  • Assist the identification of opportunities; implement best practices; and provide structuring advice for direct equity investments.
  • Apply best practice approaches with respect to structuring, valuations, pre-IPO pricing, and bidding strategies.
  • Conduct negotiations with clients and other stakeholders.
  • Support transaction execution.

b. Portfolio Management

  • Actively manage a number of public/private equity transactions.
  • Prepare valuations and analyze financial data of direct equity investments.
  • Assist in undertaking equity exits in both private and public markets.

c. Knowledge Management

  • Support maintaining knowledge of best practices.
  • Support in-house seminars and workshops.
  • Support the development of briefs, manuals, brochures and other publications related to equity investments.

d. Administrative and Planning Support

  • Participate in the planning of various initiatives designed to facilitate OPSD-EIU's interaction with other ADB departments and in the development of systems and procedures.

Qualifications

You will need:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a business, economics or finance related field preferably with advanced training.
  • At least 5 years of work experience, preferably in a local or international bank. Prior experience in (a) negotiating, structuring and managing equity investments for corporate, infrastructure and/or financial sector transactions and (b) in equity valuation and financial modeling are a plus. Sector experience should ideally include utilities, infrastructure, agriculture, health, and/or education.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

Additional Information

This appointment is open to internal and external applicants.

This is a fixed-term appointment for an initial fixed period of 3 years. At the end of the initial period, this appointment may, at the option of ADB, be extended once for up to 2 years, converted to a regular appointment, or ended on its expiration date. This decision will be made in the overall interest of ADB that: (a) it will require Staff's particular blend of skills and experience in the foreseeable future; and (b) Staff's performance is satisfactory and they are suitable for further employment.
