The Project Officer/s for the Spotlight initiative Phase II project will be responsible for the successful implementation, alignment with Plan International's vision and strategic objectives for the promotion of Adolescents sexual and reproductive health and rights. This position demands understanding in SGBV, SRHR, gender and the ability to work with local structures and young people, especially girls and young women in project operational areas. Under the overall guidance and direct supervision of the Project Manager, the incumbent will be responsible for delivering project activities in accordance to the Detailed Implementation Plan (DIP). The Project Officers will work collaboratively with all relevant stakeholders for the prevention of violence, including SRGBV, Child protection, training, skills development for adolescents, learning outcomes and community mobilization.

DIMENSIONS OF THE ROLE

The Spotlight Initiative is a global partnership between EU and the United Nations to eliminate all forms of violence against women and girls using the Whole-of-community and whole-of-government approach, aligning with the national agenda and supporting the Sustainable Development Goal (SDGs), especially SDG5 on gender equality. The project under the UNICEF Phase II grant will focus on building on the lessons learned from phase 1, emphasising localized community -driven and cross-sectional action. In Phase II, the project will focus on child protection, education and adolescents’ empowerment to prevent and respond to harmful practices. The Project aims to achieve gender equitable social norms, attitudes and behaviour change at community and individual levels to prevent violence against women and girls and harmful

Accountabilities

  • Organise community sensitization and engagement meetings with stakeholders on the project goals and objectives to support the implementation of activities
  • Facilitate the conduct of Inter-generational Dialogue on Positive Parenting Education Programme (PPEP) sessions to end harmful practices against women and girls.
  • Strengthen/Establish SRGBV school clubs in the project locations and ensure they are functional, effective, and impact-driven
  • Monitor school mentors and peer mentors on the delivery of teachers' code of conduct, life skills, SRGBV prevention, and reporting mechanism
  • Support MBSSE to train and monitor the life skills curriculum in schools at the district level
  • Support strategies for advocacy and prevention of SRGBV within schools and communities
  • Support in mobilizing key SRGBV, SRHR actors/partners and participating in sectoral meetings
  • To conduct regular coordination meetings (bi-weekly/monthly) with relevant stakeholders, involving project partners like Focus 1000 and SEND Sierra Leone
  • Conduct routine data collection for the attention of the MERL team and the Line Manager
  • Ensuring staff and associates are aware of and understand their responsibilities under policies and Plan International’s Code of Conduct (CoC), their relevance to their area of work, and that concerns are reported and managed in accordance with the appropriate procedures
  • Promptly report any safeguarding and child protection issues through Plan International’s protection and safeguarding focal point.
  • In collaboration with technical Advisors, provide other skills training, career guidance, leadership training and mentorship
  • Liaise with PIIA Manager, Line Manager and Sector Specialists to ensure reports (weekly, bi-weekly, monthly) are submitted for project reporting
