Context

Established in 1951, IOM is a Related Organization of the United Nations, and as the leading UN agency in the field of migration, works closely with governmental, intergovernmental, and non-governmental partners. IOM is dedicated to promoting humane and orderly migration for the benefit of all. It does so by providing services and advice to governments and migrants.

IOM Zimbabwe CO is recognized by the Government of Zimbabwe (GoZ) as the principal international inter-governmental organization addressing the entire spectrum of migration issues. IOM has been operational in Zimbabwe since 1985, and Zimbabwe became a Member State of IOM in 2002. In line with IOM’s global strategy, IOM Zimbabwe works in advancing migration policy and practice while addressing humanitarian and development challenges of migration. It does so together with governmental, intergovernmental and civil society partners through well-informed, coordinated and protection-centred actions. The areas of IOM intervention in the country include: HumanitarianEmergency, Transition and Recovery, Migrant Protection and Assistance, Migration Data, Migration and Integrated Border GovernanceManagement, Migration and Development, Migration Health Services and Movements Assistance. 

Under the overall supervision of the Chief of Mission (CoM), direct supervision of the Information Management Coordinator and in close collaboration with other relevant units, the  candidate will be responsible to support Displacement Tracking Matrix (DTM) analysis and any other data-related activities in Zimbabwe, as well as implementation and monitoring of CO’s programming related to information management/Displacement Tracking Matrix (DTM). 

  1. Assist in the implementation and monitoring of DTM project activities including data colletion operations, trainings and data storage. 
  2. Retrieve, compile, summarize, and present information/data on specific project topics.
  3. Monitor budget; verify availability of funds; obtain necessary approval and update budget related information.   
  4. Support administrative coordination of project implementation, involving liaison with diverse organizational units and external parties to initiate requests, obtain necessary clearances, process and follow-up on administrative actions, etc.
  5. Draft monthly and quarterly DTM reports, include analysis of data, report writing and visualizations.  
  6. Support the implementation and maintenance of DTM tools in Kobo, Microsoft Forms, DHIS2, Google Forms  and other forms of documentation. 
  7. Organize meetings, workshops and training sessions. 
  8. Respond to general information requests and inquiries on data and reports
  9. Perform other related duties as assigned.
Education
  • School diploma with four years of relevant experience; or,
  • Bachelor’s degree in Political or Social Sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, Migration Studies, Human Rights, Law or related fields from an accredited academic institution with two years of relevant professional experience.
Accredited Universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database.
 
Experience
  • Experience in liaising with governmental authorities, national/international institutions, United Nations agencies and non-governmental organizations;
  • Experience in working with migrants, refugees, internally displaced persons, victims of trafficking and other vulnerable groups; and,
  • Prior work experience with international humanitarian organizations, non-government or government institutions/organization in a multi-cultural setting is an advantage. 
Skills
  • In depth knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Power BI 
  • In depth knowledge of Microsoft Power Point 
  • Analytical and Statistical skills 
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong strategic and creative thinking.
  • Data management in disaster settings, or familiarity with IOM’s DTM.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills in highly challenging, high-pressure contexts
Languages
  • For this position, fluency in English is required (oral and written).
IOM’s official languages are English, French and Spanish.
Proficiency of language(s) required will be specifically evaluated during the selection process, which may include written and/or oral assessments.
