Purpose of the role
The ICT Assistant will support the North Area Office operations by providing efficient ICT services and effective data management. The role focuses on delivering ICT support. Working under the supervision of the Support Manager, the position contributes to the successful implementation of NRC’s activities in the North by ensuring compliance with NRC’s ICT policies, protection mainstreaming standards, and donor requirements.
The role requires coordinating multiple ICT support tasks, planning and reprioritising workload in response to operational needs across the North Area Office.
What you will do
- Adhere to NRC policies, guidance, procedures and the Global ICT Strategy.
- Provide information and support to staff on the department’s policies and procedures.
- Deliver timely and high-quality ICT hardware, software, and services to the country programme.
- Ensure all NRC systems are fully compliant with information security requirements and data privacy standards.
- Support with testing new equipment and applications and provide thorough feedback.
- Identify problems and errors in the area of activities.
- Ensure that NRC’s related activities are implemented within NRC’s Protection Mainstreaming guidelines and report any breaches/concerns to the line manager and/or focal point for proper action.
- Plan and organise a varied workload across multiple service priorities, adjusting tasks in response to changing operational needs and unexpected ICT issues.
- Coordinate with colleagues across different locations to schedule and prioritise ICT support requests.
- Identify recurring ICT challenges and propose improvements to enhance service efficiency.
Specifically you will;
- Install, maintain, monitor and update operating systems, software upgrades, security patches and user applications.
- Provide routine support for resolving Windows issues, formatting, and setting up Okta accounts and NRC applications.
- Maintain Internet and network connectivity in NRC’s offices/ centers.
- Maintain and track ICT assets.
- Set up and troubleshoot printers, monitoring consumables and paper usage.
- Prepare and configure laptops for new employees.
- Ensure licensing compliance for all software on NRC computers and network equipment.
- Collaborate with Logistics for ICT asset management, advise and assist with procurement by recommending hardware and software specifications.
- Support procurement processes by providing technical specifications; final purchasing decisions remain with the Support Manager.
- Escalate complex technical or infrastructure issues to the ICT Coordinator for further troubleshooting.
- Contribute to short-term ICT support planning for the North Area Office, to ensure ICT activities are delivered within required timelines.
- Ensure proper filing of documents related to support department as per NRC’s policies and procedures.
- Provide technical support to the M&E team by assisting with structured data collection processes, basic data cleaning, and resolving system access challenges in line with NRC data protection standards.
- Perform any other related tasks requested by the line manager.
Professional competencies
- Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, CCE, or relevant computer domain
- Minimum 1 - 2 years of experience in Information Technology
- Proficiency in both Arabic and English, both written and spoken.
- Good cultural awareness and sensitivity
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Previous experience from working in complex and volatile contexts.
