The Advancing Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (AdSEARCH) project of icddr,b aims to improve sexual and reproductive health (SRH) outcomes and realize rights among different population groups with distinct SRH needs in Bangladesh. Neonatal hypothermia, a leading contributing cause of neonatal deaths globally, accounts for a large number of deaths annually. Responding to the threat, icddr,b scientists developed and successfully tested a thermal jacket for the management of neonatal hypothermia. Under the AdSEARCH project, efforts are being initiated to carry out implementation trials in the context of Bangladeshi public healthcare settings.
Position Description
The Senior Technical Assistant will report to the Research Investigator and will be responsible for project implementation, documentation, technical support and team support for smooth running of the intervention activities within the guidelines of project protocol and organizational values and guidelines. S/he will be involved in–
- Purchase raw materials and prepare chemical warming pads for a thermo-chemical device;
- Operate a time-temperature data logger (Vernier LabQuest 3) device for data collection;
- Assist in conducting experiments using Thermal Jacket and related laboratory data collection;
- Participate in field visits and collect necessary data when required;
- Ensure timely management of laboratory works such as safety, cleanliness, and organizing equipment etc.;
- Provide support to study work and meet tight deadlines when required.
Required qualification and experience:
- Minimum H.S.C passed.
- 3 years of working experience in a relevant field.
- Preference will be given to candidates who have experience working with laboratory trials.

Contract Type and Duration:
- Short Term Contractual Service Agreement (CSA) basis; duration will be 3 months with a possibility of extension subject to availability of funds and performance.
Salary & benefits:
- Tk.31,807/-(consolidated) per month inclusive of house rent and conveyance allowances.
- Festival allowance, income tax paid by icddr, b and subsidized canteen. Transport and Daycare facilities are subject to space availability.
