Job Description

Information Technology (IT) Officer

The IT Officer will be responsible for maintaining the Nepal Office IT systems, including oversight of computers, servers, email, and networking infrastructure, ensuring smooth and uninterrupted operations. The officer will also be responsible for coordinating with FHI 360 Nepal Office IT, the Asia Pacific Regional Hub, the headquarters (HQ)’ Digital Transformation and Technology (DTT) team, and Internet Service Providers (ISPs) to implement necessary software updates and communication system upgrades.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide user support for issues related to emails, FHI 360 standard programs/applications, printing, network connectivity, file management, data recovery, and installation of standard applications.
  • Monitor and maintain all computers and printers to ensure smooth operation, including hardware/software troubleshooting, local area network management, email configuration, and device setup.
  • Manage user accounts, including creating, resetting, unlocking, and disabling accounts as needed.
  • Ensure weekly updates of antivirus software on servers and workstations.
  • Perform regular backups of servers, user files, and shared network files according to the established schedule.
  • Maintain and periodically upgrade the Nepal Office IT system, as required or instructed by HQ and Asia Pacific Regional Hub.
  • Assist regional and HQ DTT teams in testing and deploying emerging technologies.
  • Coordinate and follow up with international IT support teams as necessary.
  • Provide regular IT status updates to leadership teams at FHI 360 Nepal Office, regional and, and HQ DTT teams.
  • Ensure compliance by installing only FHI 360 licensed software on office computers to prevent security and operational issues.
  • Adhere to all FHI 360 DTT and funder IT compliance requirements.
  • Monitor internet connectivity and liaise with ISPs to resolve issues promptly.
  • Configure computers and set up printing and network services for consultants and visitors as required.
  • Advise staff on IT security measures and ensure timely application of security patches and virus protection updates.
  • Recommend and coordinate security enhancements and system upgrades with Asia Pacific Regional Hub DTT team.
  • Assist staff with file and email archiving and management on a regular basis.
  • Manage the Office Intranet and electronic filing system, including updating content and uploading FHI 360 documents as needed.
  • Support staff with document layout, design, printing, and production for FHI 360 materials.
  • Perform other relevant tasks assigned by supervisor and the Country Director.

Requirements

  • Bachelor level education required, qualification in MCP, MCSE, CCNA. At least 5 years’ experience in IT Field or Master level with 3 years’ experience in IT Field.
  • Proactive in managing multiple tasks, managing, and working in virtual work environment, and flexible and open for managing time for working with different teams in different time zones as needed.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, communication, team building and management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in MS Windows Server (2003/2008), MS Exchange 5.5, Windows 7 Professional/Enterprise, MS Office 2010/2013, and Office 365.
  • Skilled in VERITAS Backup, VMware, Cisco Router/Switch configuration, IT security, and cloud-based technologies.
  • Familiar with graphic design tools such as Photoshop, PageMaker, and FreeHand.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Passionate, optimistic, and self-motivated with a strong drive to deliver results.
  • Good verbal and written English and Nepali including documentation skills.
