DURATION: Three (3) months (within July - October 2026 implementation period) 
ORGANIZATIONAL UNIT: UNFPA Sub-regional Office for the Caribbean for the English and Dutch Speaking Caribbean

Purpose of Consultancy  

The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), in partnership with the Ministry of Sport and Youth Affairs, is implementing a national youth movement campaign designed to engage young people as creators, influencers, and advocates for positive social norms and behaviours.

The initiative will leverage music, sport, digital media, youth leadership, and strategic partnerships to promote youth empowerment, gender equality, healthy relationships, and positive social change. Through youth-centered and culturally relevant approaches, the campaign aims to foster meaningful youth participation while increasing awareness of services, programmes, and opportunities available to young people.
To support implementation of this initiative, UNFPA seeks to engage an Individual Consultant (Campaign Coordinator) who will serve as the primary coordination focal point between UNFPA and the Ministry of Sport and Youth Affairs and oversee the day-to-day implementation of campaign activities.

The Consultant will provide operational leadership for campaign implementation, including stakeholder engagement, event coordination, communications support, and partnership development to ensure timely and high-quality delivery of all outputs.
 

Scope of work/Main tasks and responsibilities, et al
 

The Consultant will be responsible for the following:
 

Campaign Planning and Coordination

  • Develop and implement a detailed campaign workplan and implementation timeline.
  • Serve as the principal coordination focal point between UNFPA, the Ministry of Sport and Youth Affairs, and other key stakeholders.
  • Support timely delivery of all campaign activities and outputs.

Stakeholder Engagement and Partnerships

  • Develop and maintain a stakeholder engagement plan for influencers, youth organizations, Youth Advisory Group members, private sector partners, media houses, campaign ambassadors, and supporters.
  • Build and strengthen strategic partnerships to support campaign reach and sustainability.
     

Event Management and Campaign Activities

Coordinate two key campaign activities:

1. Influencer Launch Event (July 2026)

  • Lead overall event coordination and logistics
  • Manage programme development and participant engagement
  • Oversee branding, visibility, media coordination, and refreshments procurement
     

2. International Youth Day Conference / Youth Expo

  • Support coordination of UNFPA–Ministry activities for International Youth Day
  • Oversee implementation of the Youth Expo as a featured component of the national observance

Communications and Visibility

  • Support implementation of the campaign’s social media strategy.
  • Coordinate campaign messaging and visibility activities.
  • Monitor campaign reach, engagement, and impact.

Reporting and Documentation

  • Document campaign activities, achievements, partnerships, and lessons learned.
  • Prepare progress and final reports with recommendations for sustainability.

Required expertise, qualifications and competencies, including language requirements

The ideal Consultant will need to meet the following requirements:

EDUCATION:

  • First degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Social Sciences, Youth Development, Event Management, Development Studies, or a related field.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum four (4) years of relevant professional experience.
  • Progressive experience in project management, communications, campaign coordination, public engagement, youth development, event management, or related areas.
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating multi-stakeholder initiatives at national level.
  • Experience working with entertainers, influencers, youth organizations, government agencies, development partners, or civil society organizations.
  • Experience managing public campaigns, social media initiatives, or large-scale events is a strong asset.
  • Previous experience with the United Nations, particularly UNFPA, is an asset.

LANGUAGE:

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent planning, organizational, and reporting skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work under pressure
  • Knowledge of social media, youth engagement approaches, and strategic communications
  • Ability to work independently and within multidisciplinary teams
