Job Description

The International Institute of Tropical Agriculture seeks suitable Nigerian nationals for the position below at the Institute’s Headquarters in Ibadan.

Position:        Corporate Accounting Manager

Contract:       3-years renewable contract                                            

Location: Ibadan

Closing Date: 17 July, 2026

DUTIES: 

  • Contribute, prepare and monitor IITA budget and manage IITA’s centre budget including capital budget.
  • Monitor inter-centre Accounting operations and prepare management reports.
  • Manage compliance and proper implementation of approved software for use in Finance Directorate and stations of the Institute (Oracle Champion).
  • Supports in the preparation of Institute’s Audited Financial Statement in accordance with IFRS.
  • Prepare annual report, oversee Insurance functions, etc.
  • Supervise the activities of staff of Advances and Expense Claims and Fixed Assets unit.
  • Supervise the Fixed Asset Module and PPE schedule of the Financial Statements
  • Supervise Finance Section of the Inventory Module, Freight Accounting process, asset disposal, account processes and manage all finance related online applications.
  • Supervise annual assets verification and stock count.
  • Review monthly and annual trial balance and ensure reconciliation of all balance sheet accounts.
  • Perform any other job-related duties as may be assigned from time to time by the Financial Controller and Chief Finance and Risk Officer.

Requirements

QUALIFICATION:

MSc/MBA in Accounting, Finance, Economics or any other related field with a minimum of fifteen (15) years’ experience performing a similar role in a well-structured environment. Possession of ACA or ACCA is required.

  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, with strong relationship management and stakeholder engagement abilities.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail skills, ensuring accuracy and sound decision-making.
  • Proficient in Oracle ERP, Microsoft Office Suite, and other relevant computer applications.
  • Goal-oriented, proactive, and results-driven, with high integrity, professionalism, and the ability to work collaboratively under pressure
