Duties and Responsibilities
The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is the leading global environmental authority that sets the global environmental agenda, promotes the coherent implementation of the environmental dimension of sustainable development within the United Nations system and serves as an authoritative advocate for the global environment. The overall objective of the UNEP’s Industry and Economy Division is to encourage decision makers in government, local authorities and industry to develop and adopt policies, strategies and practices and technologies that promote sustainable patterns of consumption and production, make efficient use of natural resources, ensure safe management of chemicals and contribute to making trade and environment policies mutually supportive. It promotes the development, use and transfer of policies, technologies, economic instruments, managerial practices and other tools that assist in environmentally sound decision making and the building of corresponding activities. The United Nations Environment Programme Finance Initiative (UNEP FI) is the strategic partnership between the United Nations and over 500 banks, insurers and investors. For over 34 years UNEP FI has been shaping and driving the international sustainable finance agenda, setting global standards and growing a global network of leading financial institutions. Through its work-streams and regional activities, peer learning, methodology development, training and research, UNEP FI promotes sustainable finance and helps the financial industry align with and contribute to the Paris Agreement and Sustainable Development Goals. UNEP FI needs a Programme Analyst to successfully deliver human resources, administrative and operational tasks and provide logistical, documentation and reporting, data management and coordination supports to the Nature programme team. The Programme Analyst will play a crucial role in effective and efficient delivery of administrative, logistical, documentation and reporting, data management and coordination support tasks of the programme. The Programme Analyst is expected to work closely with the Nature team leads, members and the UNEP FI admin team and ensure timely delivery and completion of all human resources, administrative and operational activities. Objective: To successfully deliver human resources, administrative and operational tasks and provide logistical, documentation and reporting, data management and coordination support to the programme team. Specific tasks and responsibilities: The Programme Analyst will support the Nature Team with the following tasks: • Support team on travel, including preparation of travel requests and maintenance of travel schedules and overviews; • Provide HR operations and administrative support, including updating Terms of Reference, supporting recruitment processes, and onboarding new team members; • Maintain and update internal trackers and tools, including donor reporting tracker, development pipeline, events tracker, and other team monitoring tools; • Coordinate timely submission of project narrative and financial reports to donors in collaboration with programme and administration teams; • Support project development and implementation through preparation and updating of proposals, presentations, and documentation; • Coordinate contractual and administrative processes with implementing partners; • Organize and coordinate team meetings, including scheduling calls, updating agendas and participant lists, and supporting internal team coordination; • Support general team operations, including document management, data tracking, and internal communication activities. The consultant will report to: Overall supervisor: Head of UNEP FI. Direct Supervisor: Nature Lead, UNEP FI.
Qualifications/special skills
Education: High school diploma or equivalent is required. Professional training in project administration would be desirable. Professional Experience: A minimum of two (2) years of progressively responsible work experience in administrative or programme support and project coordination, particularly for donor-funded projects or other international organizations is required.
