BACKGROUND
Based in Seoul, the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) is an intergovernmental organization founded to support and promote a model of economic growth known as "green growth", which targets key aspects of economic performance such as poverty reduction, job creation, social inclusion, and environmental sustainability. GGGI works with countries around the world, building their capacity and working collaboratively on green growth policies that can impact the lives of millions. The organization partners with countries, multilateral institutions, government bodies, and the private sector to help build economies that grow strongly and are more efficient and sustainable in the use of natural resources, less carbon-intensive, and more resilient to climate change.
CURRENT OPPORTUNITY
We are looking for a motivated and talented individual to work with us in the Department of Partnerships, Governance, and Communications (DPGC) to support the Partnerships Unit in managing the BIMP-EAGA ROK Cooperation Fund (BKCF). The intern will primarily assist with BKCF-related work and, if necessary, may also support selected tasks related to Korea’s Official Development Assistance (ODA) projects or Partnerships relevant tasks upon necessary.
Through this role, the intern will gain hands-on experience in the operations of an international organization, with direct exposure to international cooperation mechanisms, project financing instruments, and fund management processes.
This internship is offered for a period of three (3) months, with the possibility of a three (3)-month extension, subject to performance and organizational needs. The internship is expected to commence on the week of 11 May 2026 and will be conducted on a full-time, on-site basis at GGGI Headquarters.
RESPONSIBILITY
The intern’s responsibilities related to BKCF management will include, but are not limited to, the following:
1. BKCF Portal Operation
- Support the operation and stabilization of the newly developed BKCF Portal, including system testing, identification of bugs or usability issues, and coordination of feedback for system improvements
- Assist in establishing and refining operational workflows and basic user guidance for the BKCF Portal
2. BKCF Project Management Support
- Provide administrative and operational support for the finalization process of the 6th call for proposals, including review, shortlisting, and consultation with the national secretariats and Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
- Assist in the monitoring and management of ongoing BKCF projects, including tracking implementation progress and maintaining the BKCF project database
- Assist in the planning and coordination of BKCF-related events, including workshops and briefing sessions.
3. Communications & Administrative Support
- Maintain organized records of BKCF documents, including reports, datasets, and meeting notes
- Develop visual aids for BKCF presentations and promotional materials
- Support the planning and preparation of BKCF’s 5th Anniversary Event
- Provide ad-hoc support to Partnerships or ROK ODA-related activities, when required
ELIGIBILITY
Applicants to the GGGI internship program must at the time of application meet the following requirements:
- Be available to work on-site at GGGI Headquarters on a full-time basis, as the position requires close coordination and frequent communication with team members
- Possess an excellent command of business English and Korean.
- Be enrolled in a Bachelor’s (final year), Master’s, or Ph.D. program prior to internship assignment, or a recent graduate within the last 12 months.
- Be engaged or recently engaged in academic study in a field directly related to the Institute’s work.
- Be able to work collaboratively in a team environment and manage multiple tasks under supervision
QUALIFICATION
- Recent graduate in a Bachelor’s or Master’s- or enrolled in a PhD-level program in international studies, climate change, economics, development economics, accounting, business administration, management & public administration, or related field preferred.
- Experience in developing ODA projects or participating in or managing the cooperation fund, or relevant experience in working with an international organization is an asset.
- Experience in financial management and/or project budget management would be an advantage.
- Proven computer literacy in standard office software, especially good knowledge of Excel or ability to quickly master other software.
- Strong analytical skills with a self-drive for data analysis, modeling and interpretation
- Ability to drive themselves from problem-detection to problem-solving, to organize diverse information, and to work/deliver under time pressure.
- Excellent English communication skills, particularly listening and engaging with stakeholders from diverse countries
- Good interpersonal skills, ability to work collaboratively with colleagues from diverse cultural backgrounds, and willingness to learn from others.
- High level of attention to detail, with strong diligence and perseverance in handling tasks that need consistent follow-up until issues are fully resolved.
- Comfortable with or proactive in suggesting new ideas and approaches in a collaborative environment
SELECTION PROCESS

- GGGI evaluates applications based on: eligibility requirements, relevance of academic study and work experience (if any); and the level of interest and motivation to contribute to development work.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION
- Duration: The internship program is for at least three months and up to six months. Once selected, interns must begin your internship either prior to or within 12 months of graduation.
- Stipend: GGGI interns receive a monthly stipend of USD $500 per month (unless agreed to be funded by sponsoring institutions). All costs related to travel, insurance, accommodation, and living expenses must be borne by either the interns themselves or sponsoring institutions.
- Visa: GGGI will provide a supporting letter for visa. Interns will be responsible for obtaining and financing the necessary visas.
- Travel: Intern will arrange and finance their travel to the internship location.
- Medical Insurance: Interns must present proof of valid medical insurance to GGGI upon returning the signed internship contract.
- Confidentiality: Interns must keep confidential any and all unpublished information obtained during the course of the internship and may not publish any documents based on such information.
- Academic Credit: Interns may get academic credit from their institution of higher education for the internship. Interns need to check with their university to confirm their academic credit policy for internships.
- Working Hours: Interns are expected to work during normal working hours. Leave should be pre-approved by the Intern Manager, and the latter should inform the Office of HR accordingly.
- Learning Outcomes: Before completion of the internship, Intern Managers are expected to review the learning outcomes with the intern.
Certificate: Provided upon successful completion of the internship, upon request.
