The EIB, the European Union's bank, is seeking to recruit for its Finance Directorate (FI), Strategy, Policies & Business Support Department (SPBS), Systems & Data Management Division (SDM), Loan Support Unit (LS) at its headquarters in Luxembourg, an Associate Financial Systems Business Analyst*.
This is a full-time position at grade 4 for which the EIB offers a permanent contract.

You will perform the analysis, development, implementation and operation of the main application for the administration of the entire EIB lending business (WallStreet System Commercial Loan Module (WSS-CLM) application) to ensure its alignment with the Bank’s wider operational needs.
You will be part of a division of approximately 26 professionals, organised into three specialised teams:
Market Data Management Team
Borrowing and Treasury Team
Loan Support Team
The Loan Support Team plays a key role in:
Coordinating business projects related to the lending application.
Providing financial support to the user community.
Leading and managing system adaptations for transversal initiatives impacting lending activities.
You will report directly to the Head of the Loan Support Unit and works in close collaboration with other teams within the division. The role involves:
Regular interaction with lending users across FI (Finance Directorate), OPS (Operations Directorate), FC (Accounting Directorate), PMM (Portfolio Management and Monitoring Directorate), and RM (Risk Management Directorate) for business-related matters.
Close cooperation with IT teams on technical aspects of the application.
Ensure successful participation in projects by delivering within agreed scope, time, and budget, while maintaining quality, change control, and risk management. Collaborate with internal and external project teams to align the EIB’s core financial applications with business requirements across Finance, Risk Management, Operations, Transaction Management & Restructuring, and Financial Control Directorates.
Typical Activities:
Act as project manager for business projects in Lending (e.g., new product implementation, functionality enhancements, system upgrades).
Serve as business analyst in Bank-wide projects, from implementing new products to urgent actions (e.g., DnC implementation in strict deadlines).
MAINTAIN AND SUPPORT KEY BUSINESS PROCESSES
Contribute to the execution and optimisation of key processes related to the application and associated data, ensuring efficiency, reliability, and user satisfaction. Support regular upgrades by developing business cases, facilitating workshops, proposing improvements, and conducting User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
Typical Activities:
Provide functional support to business users across FI, OPS, PMM, RM, and CFC Directorates.
Analyse requirements, specifications, and impacts on processes and resources.
Organise meetings with lending users and IT to prioritise and coordinate work.
Manage change requests, maintain issue catalogues, and document resolutions.
Design and execute UAT plans to validate business requirements.
Produce reports and manage training sessions.
Handle incidents, propose remedies or workarounds, and document non-standard solutions.
Improve AI capacity of the team by creating, improving internal AI agents.
HANDLING OF KEY DATA CONFIGURATIONS PROCESSES
Configure lending applications to ensure accurate transaction processing and reporting structures, maintaining high data quality standards.
Typical Activities:
Execute configuration tasks promptly and accurately.
Maintain manuals and vade-mecum for critical interventions and recurring tasks.
Configure accounting rules in line with Financial Control specifications.
SPECIALIST ADVICE
Offer proactive, expert advice on complex issues within EIB’s lending functional areas (e.g., I-Payment process, Loan Substitutes, Equities) to enable optimal solutions and align with best practices.
Typical Activities:
Act as internal consultant to the Bank-wide user community.
Serve as subject matter expert in specialised domains.
EXTERNAL AND INTERNAL RELATIONS
External: Build relationships with other institutions using similar core applications and maintain vendor contacts to ensure delivery of functionalities and stay aligned with best practices.
Internal: Maintain strong collaboration with LS and EIB stakeholders (Risk, Accounting, IT, Operations), using negotiation skills to secure appropriate solutions.
IDENTIFY AND PROMOTE AI OPPORTUNITIES
Improve operational efficiency, Successful deployment of AI features that optimise lending and treasury operations.
Typical Activities:
Explore and propose AI-driven solutions to enhance FI system processes (e.g., predictive analytics, automated data validation, anomaly detection, maintenance assistance by detecting solution proposed to similar issues, …).
Collaborate on AI Integration Projects.
University degree (minimum an equivalent to a Bachelor) preferably in Business Administration, Finance, Computer Science, or a related field.
At least 3 years of relevant professional experience, ideally in the financial sector or consulting firms in roles involving financial systems, process optimisation, or technology-driven projects.
Relevant experience in project management and exposure to digital transformation initiatives.
Strong understanding of the EIB mission, activities, and operational framework.
Functional knowledge of financial software packages used in EIB’s functional areas (e.g., WallStreet Suite CLM, Finance Kit Borrowings & Treasury (WSS TRM)).
Solid technical knowledge of application architecture, data flows, and related tools.
Familiarity with IT applications architecture and IT infrastructure within EIB.
Proven experience in project management principles and methodologies (e.g., PM², Scrum).
Excellent knowledge of English and/or French (***) with a good command of the other. Knowledge of other EU languages would be an advantage.
To support EIB’s innovation and efficiency goals, candidates should also ideally demonstrate:
Awareness of AI-driven solutions in financial operations, such as predictive analytics, process automation, and intelligent data validation.
Ability to identify opportunities for AI integration within system workflows to enhance efficiency and reduce operational risk is an advantage.
Understanding of data governance, ethical considerations, and compliance when applying AI in financial contexts.
Familiarity with basic concepts of machine learning and data analytics to collaborate effectively with IT and data teams.
Openness to continuous learning in emerging technologies, including AI-powered tools for financial systems.
