Duties and Responsibilities
ITC’s Tech and Services team is part of the Sector and Enterprise Competitiveness Section (SEC) within the Division for Enterprise Competitiveness and Institutions (DECI). The team consists of three professionals and one programme management assistant at headquarters in Geneva, and colleagues based in Côte d’Ivoire, Uganda and Benin. The team implements several projects related to the services and the technology sectors in Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Caribbean. The projects aim to support the growth of beneficiary companies through training, coaching, linkages with potential market partners, and to strengthen the ecosystems in which they operate. The objective of the internship is to contribute to the development of the SEC Services Toolkit by supporting methodological work, assisting in the identification of priority service sectors, and facilitating partnerships with stakeholders. DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES The intern will work under the overall guidance of Chief, DECI/SEC. He/she will carry out the following duties, with a focus on programme management, and services sector: Project Management Support • Contribute to the development of the different SEC Services Sector Toolkit, including drafting relevant content, structuring methodology, and supporting its finalization. • Assist in the testing phase of the toolkit with beneficiary companies, including the organization of pilot activities, collection of feedback, and integration of lessons learned. • Support the identification of sector priorities and market opportunities in services, including IT/BPO, logistics, tourism and other relevant sectors. • Provide support in the preparation of project-related documentation, including activity reports, presentations, and inputs for the Monitoring & Evaluation framework. Research & Sector Analysis • Undertake desk research and mapping to assess the potential of services sectors in target markets. • Prepare briefing materials, case studies, and reports on good practices in services sector development and promotion (Word, PowerPoint, Canva). Partnership Development & Communications • Contribute to the analysis of partnership opportunities with public and private stakeholders for collaboration in methodology development, sector strengthening and pilot initiatives. • Assist in disseminating communication materials on services sector work, in particular online (project webpages, social media, newsletters). • Contribute to the production of flyers, company directories, and other communication outputs highlighting services sector opportunities. Qualifications/special skills
Applicants to the programme shall, at the time of application, meet one of the following requirements: a) Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or b) Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s level or equivalent); c) Have graduated with a university degree (as defined in a or b above) and, if selected, shall commence the internship within one year of graduation. Relevant field of studies e.g. business studies, international trade, development. SKILLS • Computer literate, particularly with relation to Microsoft Office and social media. • Good communication and analytical skills and the capacity to present findings clearly in writing and orally. • Consultancy and/or business analysis experience would be an advantage.
