Job Description
Result of Service
Drive various vehicle types (light passenger vehicles, sedans, SUVs, ambulances, pickup trucks, cargo and passenger vans. The Driver may be required to work irregular hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, depending on operational requirements. Shift work and standby duties may also be required, consistent with operational needs.

Duties and Responsibilities
Within delegated authority, the Driver will be responsible for the following duties: • Makes deliveries of parcels, documents, and other items between UNFICYP offices, local authorities, embassies, and partner entities. • Makes minor purchases and **collects** urgent items from local suppliers as requested. **Collects** goods from customs in compliance with applicable regulations. • Drives UNFICYP vehicles safely for the transport of authorized personnel and mission cargo between UNPA, the buffer zone, airports, sectors, and other mission locations. • Collects and delivers official mail, documents, and other mission-related materials. • Meets official personnel at the airport and other arrival points as required. • Deals effectively and tactfully with mission personnel, officials, and visitors. • Takes care of daily maintenance of assigned vehicles, including checking oil, water, battery, brakes, tires, performing minor repairs, arranging maintenance, and ensuring vehicle cleanliness. • Performs VIP and standby driving duties in support of operational requirements. • Assists the Transport Workshop in preparing vehicles for field trips, including changing wheels, cleaning air filters, and conducting general checks. • Logs fuel consumption, maintenance, and other relevant vehicle data. • Ensures proper reporting and procedures in case of accidents, in accordance with UN rules. • Performs other duties as required.
Qualifications/special skills
High school diploma or equivalent is required. • A minimum of two (2) years of progressively responsible experience in driver services is required. • Experience driving various vehicle types (light passenger vehicles, sedans, SUVs, ambulances, pickup trucks, cargo and passenger vans) is required. • A safe driving record is required. • Experience in an international organization or field mission is desirable. • Completion of recognized driver training and possession of a valid national driver’s license is required. • A valid Category B driving license is required. Additional license categories (C1, C, D1, D) are an advantage but not required for this position.
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Fluency in English (both oral and written) is required. Knowledge of Greek or Turkish is desirable.
