Context
Within the Department of Mobility Pathways and Inclusion (DMPI), the Migration Health Division (MHD), has the institutional responsibility to oversee, support and coordinate IOM’s provision of migration health services globally. Through MHD, International Organization for Migration (IOM) delivers and promotes comprehensive, preventive and curative health programmes that are beneficial, accessible, rights-based and equitable for migrants and communities. IOM fosters an enabling environment to advance evidence-informed, inclusive health and migration policies, thereby enhancing migrants’ empowerment, inclusion and resilience, while contributing to improved public health for all. To fulfil its strategic objectives, IOM collaborates with partners to ensure that migrants and communities achieve the highest attainable standard of health and well-being along migration pathways.
The Migration Health Informatics (MHI) unit leads digital transformation and advanced analytics for the Health Assessment Programme of the MHD. To strengthen AI tools use and integration into Health Assessment Programme (HAP) activities and IT systems, MHI is establishing an AI team and the Senior Medical Health Informatics Associate (AI) will provide support, effective, safe and ethical use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in HAP medical workflows and strengthen data management, analytics and quality assurance at global level in close coordination with the Migration Health Informatics Manager . The role will support applied AI projects in health informatics, supporting innovation and operational efficiency. Ongoing initiatives include feedback sentiment analysis, health chatbots, electronic job aid tools for clinical coding, diagnosis and treatment recommendations, Power BI Q&A, and Computer-Aided Diagnosis (CAD) as in the Qure AI study for chest x-ray review for Tuberculosis screening.
In close coordination with Migration Health Informatics Manager, the Senior Migration Health Informatics Associate (AI) will assist in reviewing AI Large Language Models (LLMs), Natural Language Processing (NLP) and specialized AI technology stacks such as the already mentioned Qure AI, Azure Healthcare agent service in Microsoft Copilot Studio, Azure Health AI Actions (incl. Clinical Coder), the Azure Healthcare Orchestrator, the multi‑agent Healthcare Agent Orchestrator in Azure AI Foundry and Azure Dragon Copilot.
The Senior Migration Health Informatics Associate (AI) will work closely with the AI Work Group based in Manila and cooperate with the MHD Senior Health Operations and Compliance Officer and the team promoting AI in Migration Health Assessment Centre (MHACs) and HAP operations.
Under the overall supervision of the Programme Coordinator (Global Health Assessment Programme) and direct supervision of the MHI Manager, the Senior Migration Health Informatics Associate (AI) will support in the Migration Health Informatics work in cooperation with other colleagues in MHD Teleradiology, MHI Data Quality, Reporting and Research, MHI Software Development, IOM Data Science and IOM Information and Communications Technology (ICT).
