BACKGROUND
The Thailand Country Programme, IUCN has a diverse project portfolio focused on terrestrial forest protection and conservation, as well as marine and coastal resources management and conservation, including water and wetlands, to strengthen climate resilience and sustainability of biodiversity and nature. Currently, Thailand Programme is implementing the100 million Trees, funded by Conservation International, which will support community-led forest landscape restoration and the Mekong Protection Areas and Development Phase III (PAD III) funded by DFAT in the Kaeng Krachan WHS.
JOB DESCRIPTION
1. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Field Project Associate will work closely with the Protected Area and Conservation, Programme Officer and be supervised by Manager, Thailand Country Prograrmme. The Incumbent will support the implementation of Thailand program and will have the opportunity to work in all aspects of project implementation and communications. The Field Project Associate will work in the office and fields to carry out their responsibilities as needed or requested.

2. SPECIFIC DUTIES:
Under the direct supervision of the Manager, Thailand Country Programme Office, and Protected Area Conservation, Programme Officer, the Field Project Associate will perform the following tasks:

2.1. Field Implementation and Coordination
• Coordinate and supervise day-to-day field activities in Kaeng Krachan National Park in line with approved workplans and timelines.
• Support implementation of restoration, biodiversity monitoring, livelihood, and protected area management activities.
• Liaise regularly with park authorities, local government officers, community leaders, contractors, and implementing partners.
• Ensure smooth field logistics, scheduling of field missions, and availability of equipment and materials.

2.2. Monitoring, Data Collection, and Reporting Support
• Organize and supervise field data collection (e.g. planting records, survival monitoring, biodiversity surveys, restoration assessments).
• Coordinate submission of monitoring data to project platforms (e.g. TerraMatch / KoboToolbox) and internal databases.
• Compile field progress updates, photographs, GPS records, and evidence for quarterly, annual, and milestone reports.
• Support preparation of technical inputs for donor progress reports and monitoring frameworks.

2.3. Community Engagement and Safeguards
• Facilitate community consultations, meetings, and participatory activities with local stakeholders.
• Support implementation of social and environmental safeguards and community engagement plans.
• Monitor field-level risks, grievances, and conflicts and report promptly to the Project coordinator.
• Promote inclusive participation of communities, including women and vulnerable groups, in project activities.

2.4. Training, Workshops, and Capacity Building
• Organize and provide logistical support for training courses, workshops, technical meetings, and field demonstrations.
• Coordinate participation of protected area staff, community representatives, and partners in capacity-building activities.
• Support preparation of training materials, attendance records, and training reports.

2.5. Financial, Procurement, and Documentation Support
• Collect and verify field-level financial supporting documents (receipts, invoices, timesheets, attendance sheets).
• Track field expenditures against approved budgets and activities.
• Support compliance with donor financial and procurement rules and internal procedures.
• Assist during audits, financial reviews, and donor verification missions.

2.6. Donor Coordination, Site Visits, and Compliance
• Act as focal point for donor monitoring visits, technical missions, and site inspections.
• Coordinate schedules, field access, stakeholder meetings, and documentation for visiting missions.
• Ensure compliance with donor requirements, reporting schedules, and safeguard obligations.

2.7. Risk Management, Safety, and Reporting
• Monitor safety, security, and operational risks in the field and implement mitigation measures.
• Report implementation delays, deviations from workplans, and emerging risks to the Project coordinator in a timely manner.
• Support preparation of incident reports and corrective action plans when required.

In performing the assigned duties, the incumbent will have the opportunity to interact with key units and teams at Asia Regional Office. Overall, he/she will learn communication skills, methods and tools to influence decision-making and work with key stakeholders in nature conservation for sustainable development.
REQUIREMENTS
• Thai nationality only
• Graduate degree in forestry, wildlife, environment or conservation biology, or related fields.
• At least 3 years of experience in Thailand in protected area management, environmental management and biodiversity conservation.
• Demonstrated knowledge of GPS and GIS tools is preferred
• Experience working with the Department of National Parks, Wildlife and Plan Conservation preferred.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and diplomatic skills with the ability to interact at all levels of community, provincial, national, international, multicultural, and multilingual organizations.
• Familiarly with government and NGO conservation initiatives, key players, and challenges in Thailand, in particular, strong familiarity with Thai conservation agency culture and procedures.
• Proficient in written and spoken English and Thai
• Ability to relocate and work at the project site in Petch Buri Province and travel to other provinces for work as assigned.
