Job Description :
The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) was founded in 1967 with the purpose of promoting regional cooperation in Southeast Asia, in the spirit of equality and partnership and thereby contribute towards peace, progress and prosperity in the region. ASEAN comprises eleven countries in Southeast Asia, with Timor-Leste being admitted as an ASEAN Member State during the 47th ASEAN Summit on 26 October 2025 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. It was proclaimed a Community through the “Kuala Lumpur Declaration on ASEAN 2025: Forging Ahead Together”, signed by the ASEAN Leaders during their 27th Summit 2015. The ASEAN Community Vision 2025 calls for the ASEAN Community in forging ahead together, and to work towards building a community that is politically cohesive, economically integrated and socially responsible. 

The ASEAN Secretariat was established in 1976 by the Foreign Minister of ASEAN with basic functions of providing greater efficiency in the coordination of ASEAN organs and for more effective implementation of ASEAN projects and activities. It is also envisioned to be the nerve centre of a strong and confident ASEAN Community that is globally respected for acting in full compliance with its Charter and in the best interest of its people.

In alignment with the ASEAN Community Vision 2045 and Strategic Plans of the three ASEAN pillars of Political Security Community, Economic Community and Socio-Cultural Community, and ASEAN Connectivity, supported by the Department of Community and Corporate Affairs, the ASEAN Secretariat is inviting Indonesian Citizens or ASEAN Nationals who are already residing and eligible to work in Indonesia to apply for the position of Officer for APSC Analysis & Monitoring Division, ASEAN Political-Security Community Department.     

Remuneration and Benefits:
The successful candidate will be offered a basic salary of IDR 16,835,950 and attractive remuneration package including monthly transportation allowance, outpatient medical reimbursement, hospitalisation & life insurance, annual bonus equal of a month’s basic salary, and gratuity. Subject to good performance during the probation, the candidate will be offered a fixed term contract of three (3) years, inclusive of the 6-month probationary period.

Responsibilities
  1. Reporting to the Assistant Director and Senior Officer of APSC Analysis & Monitoring Division, the Officer shall be responsible to: 
    1. To support the monitoring of the implementation of the APSC Strategic Plan of the ASEAN 2045: Our Shared Future. 
    2. To support the conduct of research, study, and analysis of current and emerging political-security and strategic issues that impact on ASEAN Community-building including ASEAN’s external relations.
    3. To provide research assistance in the preparation of policy briefs, information and discussion papers, briefing notes to support the Secretary-General of ASEAN and the Deputy Secretary-General of ASEAN for ASEAN Political-Security Community.
    4. To undertake relevant work relative to the AOIP, as well as promoting cooperation with ASEAN’s external partners on the AOIP’s areas of cooperation, in collaboration with the relevant Division(s).
    5. To support the establishment of links with other global and regional research institutions and think-tanks on matters pertaining to political-security and ASEAN’s external relations.
    6. To support the undertaking of cross-pillar and cross-sectoral work on issues facing ASEAN.
Qualifications
    • Advanced university degree (Master’s or equivalent degree) in International Relations, Political Science, Strategic Studies, International Law or an appropriate related field or discipline; and/or Bachelor's degree with a minimum of two (2) years of relevant work experience in the technical role.
    • Proven skills in problem solving in a complex organisational environment and in work planning.
    • Demonstrated ability to develop, implement, monitor and review policy and procedures. 
    • Demonstrated ability to plan and organise tasks and work flows, with proven ability for accuracy under pressure and adherence to deadlines.
    • Very good oral and written communication skills and strong interpersonal skills, including experience in cross-cultural environment and international settings.
    • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain sound working relationships with stakeholders.
    • Demonstrated commitment to collaborative work practices.
    • Competency in computer skills with adequate knowledge of Microsoft Office and Outlook where relevant to the position.
    • Sound command of English, both written and spoken.
    • Ability to demonstrate and perform with grace under pressure.
