Mission and objectives
UNESCO is an organization that seeks to promote peace and international co-operation through Education, The Sciences, Culture, Communication and Information. The Commission performs the following functions: 1. Acts as an advisory body to the government in determining policies with regard to UNESCO and its programme. 2. Serves as a liaison agency involving Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) in UNESCO activities for the advancement of Education, the Sciences, Culture and Communication, with the aim of advancing mutual knowledge and understanding of UNESCO’s work towards the common welfare of human-kind. 3. Disseminates information from and to UNESCO. 4. Exchanges information and experiences with its counterparts in Member States of the Organization 5. Fosters close co-operation between state agencies and services, professionals and other universities as well General Conferences and other inter-governmental meetings convened by UNESCO, in the preparations of Ghana’s position papers by preparing the contribution of Government to the work of these meetings. 6. Participates in the search for candidates for vacant UNESCO posts financed under the regular programme or from extra- budgetary resources, and in the placement of UNESCO Fellowship holders. 7. Participates in the planning and execution of activities entrusted to UNESCO which are undertaken with the assistance of the United Nations in Ghana.Context
Task Description
We are seeking one Online Volunteer to support us in planning and producing engaging multimedia content to strengthen the online presence of the UNESCO Accra Office across major social media platforms. The Online Volunteer will be expected to: • Develop and analyze social media components for communications campaigns and contribute to the design of strategies to maximize outreach to national audiences and increase awareness of UNESCO’s brand. • Collaborate with the UNESCO Accra office team to ensure alignment of messaging and branding across all communication channels. Undertake close consultations with the UNESCO DPI Team on UNESCO Paris messaging and branding. • Monitor and evaluate the impact of communication material on social media platforms, and report on developments, trends, and attitudes, including demographic analyses of target audiences. • Managing digital communication channels including websites and social media channels, activities include supporting the development of informational and promotional materials such as fact sheets, brochures posters, infographics, website content, e-newsletters, social media content and webinars.Competencies and values
