BACKGROUND
Purpose of Activity/Assignment:
The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development recognizes young people as key drivers in achieving the SDGs. UNICEF’s Strategic Plan 2026-2030 further emphasizes meaningful engagement with children and adolescents, youth to increase demand for services, promote safe and positive behaviors, discourage harmful practices, and strengthen social norms that advance child rights and gender equality.
In this context, digital platforms represent one of the most powerful tools to engage young audiences, shape attitudes and behaviors, and amplify youth voices. In Belarus, UNICEF maintains an active presence across major social media platforms, with a particular focus on TikTok, where children and adolescents represent a significant share of the audience.
Recognizing the power of youth-to-youth communication, UNICEF Belarus launched its TikTok account in 2021 to mobilize young people, increase awareness of key programme priorities and encourage positive social action. Youth-created content is particularly critical for programme areas where trust, openness and relatability directly influence help-seeking and positive behavior. This includes:
To further strengthen its digital engagement strategy, UNICEF Belarus seeks to engage a Youth-focused Digital Content creator for Adolescent Wellbeing and Development with strong expertise in social media content creation and community building. Engaging a young content creator ensures that messaging is relevant, relatable and aligned with the communication patterns, language and trends of adolescents and youth.
In addition, the consultant will support the development of a network of young UNICEF digital advocates, equipped with knowledge and practical skills to effectively promote UNICEF priorities across digital platforms, thereby strengthening youth participation and peer-led advocacy.
