Duties and Responsibilities
A. Research & Analytical Support (Clusters 1, 3 & 4) • Conduct desk research, literature reviews, and synthesize findings into: o Analytical summaries o Background notes o Annotated bibliographies o Draft report inputs (tables, figures, narrative sections) • Contribute analytical content for: o The 2026 Flagship Report o Policy briefs and fact sheets o Presentations and talking points B. Data Collection & Analysis (Clusters 1, 3 & 4) • Gather, clean, and organize data on: o Financing for development o STEM, IP, STI and strategic asset indicators • Conduct basic statistical analysis and identify trends. • Prepare charts, graphs, and data visualizations to support analytical work. C. Support to the Flagship Report (Cluster 1) • Assist in drafting background materials, data annexes, and consolidated research inputs. • Conduct consistency checks (data, terminology, references). • Track contributions, comments, and revisions during internal review processes. D. Support to the 2026 STI - Strategic Asset Management Webinar (Clusters 3 & 4) • Assist with: o Background materials and speaker notes o Coordination with speakers and participants o Logistical and documentation support • Prepare short follow-up summaries post-event. E. Preparation of Policy and Communication Outputs (Clusters 1, 3 & 4) • Draft inputs for: o Policy briefs o Briefing notes o Talking points o Presentations and meeting documentation
Qualifications/special skills
Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent). Preferably in economics, finance, management, Statistics, Data Analytics, International relations; Political Economy Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work. experience. However, a field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for is required. Applicants must be a student in the final year of the first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), Master’s or Ph.D. Programme or equivalent, or have completed a Bachelor’s, Master’s or PH.D. Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the position advertised, fluency English is required; knowledge of French is desirable. knowledge of another official United Nations language is an advantage.
