CIFOR-ICRAF
The Center for International Forestry Research (CIFOR) and World Agroforestry (ICRAF) envision a more equitable world where trees in all landscapes, from drylands to the humid tropics, enhance the environment and well-being for all. CIFOR and ICRAF are non-profit science institutions that build and apply evidence to today’s most pressing challenges, including energy insecurity and the climate and biodiversity crises. Over a combined total of 65 years, we have built vast knowledge on forests and trees outside of forests in agricultural landscapes (agroforestry). Using a multidisciplinary approach, we seek to improve lives and to protect and restore ecosystems. Our work focuses on innovative research, partnering for impact, and engaging with stakeholders on policies and practices to benefit people and the planet. Founded in 1993 and 1978, CIFOR and ICRAF are members of CGIAR, a global research partnership for a food secure future dedicated to reducing poverty, enhancing food and nutrition security, and improving natural resources.

CIFOR-ICRAF is looking for a

GLF Partnerships and Engagement Officer

Overview

The Global Landscapes Forum (GLF) was first launched in 2013 by CIFOR-ICRAF with core partners including UNEP, the World Bank, and funded by the Government of Germany, Government of Canada, Government of Luxembourg, and the Global Environment Facility GEF. Today, the GLF - with 35 of the world’s leading development and environmental organizations engaged as Charter Members - has become the world’s largest knowledge led forum on sustainable landscapes. Since its inception in 2013, the GLF has connected more than 25,000 organizations, 1.3 million youth, 100 governments, and millions engaged from 185 countries, while cumulatively reaching more than 4 billion people through social and traditional media.

The GLF has evolved to scale local knowledge and action towards ecosystem restoration and sustainable development through sustainable finance, learning, youth and locally-led development (GLFx). GLF is a place where a farmer can inform action, pathways, and policies; where international organizations can learn from the private sector and vice versa; and where CEOs, community leaders, policymakers, journalists, influencers, and scientists can share, learn, connect, and act together for a better world.

Duties and responsibilities

Cultivate new sources of funding while sustaining current ones for GLF’s short and long-term programs

The assignee will lead and coordinate the Global Landscapes Forum’s fundraising and efforts, with a strong focus on expanding and diversifying the source of funding while strengthening strategic relationships with existing donors. The assignee will support resource mobilization, both for core funding, and for specific projects across GLF’s key initiatives: Sustainable Finance, Learning, Knowledge, the GLF Youth programme, the GLFx Program.

Fundraising support will combine established approaches such as proposal development and grant management with more creative and proactive outreach, including engagement with philanthropies, private sector actors, new financing partners, as well as developing crowdfunding strategies.

Fundraising efforts also include the development of sustainable business models for GLF activities, including event sponsorships and partnership packages, while adapting fundraising strategies to a rapidly changing funding landscape. Throughout the assignment, a strong emphasis will be placed on partnership cultivation, relationship management, and long-term value creation, ensuring that GLF’s collaborations are strategic, mission-aligned, and resilient over time.

The Candidate will work closely with the Resource Mobilization Team of CIFOR-ICRAF.

Strengthen relationships with existing partners, and expand our community with new ones

The assignee will lead the engagement of the GLF’s 35 Charter Members and 110 engaged partners, who play a central role in the Forum’s governance and long-term direction. Ensuring consistent, meaningful, and value-driven collaboration with all partners is a core priority of this role.

At the same time, the assignee will play a crucial role in expanding GLF’s partnerships across the Global South.

Scope of the assignment:

  • Strategy: In collaboration with the GLF Director and the Senior Strategic Advisor, lead the refinement of GLF’s value proposition. Design and implement fundraising and partnership strategies aligned with GLF’s Theory of Change and team priorities.
  • Donor and partner management: Manage relationships with existing donors and strategic partners, including Charter Members and Engaged Partners. Ensure regular communication, effective stewardship, and high-quality reporting to support retention and long-term engagement.
  • Opportunity identification and due diligence: Research, assess, and pursue funding and partnership opportunities across institutional donors, foundations, private sector actors, networks, and regional partners. Conduct due diligence to ensure strategic and values alignment. Support fundraising for core programmes and ad-hoc initiatives, including events.
  • Proposal development and compliance: Lead or coordinate the preparation of proposals, concept notes, budgets, and donor reports. Work closely with resource mobilization, finance, communications and programme teams to ensure quality, co-creation, and compliance with donor and internal requirements. Support fundraising and marketing campaigns.
  • Internal coordination and capacity building: Coordinate with team leads and Regional Hub Coordinators to align priorities and ensure accurate representation of GLF’s work. Design and facilitate workshops or meetings to strengthen internal capacity to articulate GLF’s value proposition.
  • External engagement: Prepare presentations and represent GLF in meetings with prospective donors and partners, in coordination with relevant team members.
  • Systems, monitoring, and learning: Manage the CRM system (Salesforce). Monitor trends and gather intelligence of fundraising and partnership opportunities. Monitor trends in the funding and partnership landscape. Provide regular data-based updates to support learning and continuous improvement.

Education, knowledge and experience

• BSc or MSc (preferred) in a field relevant to one or more of the GLF’s thematic areas and the Sustainable Development Goals
• Demonstrated experience in partnership engagement and relationship management; experience working with donors, international organizations, or multilateral institutions is highly desirable
• Experience in coordinating and leading fundraising efforts for NGOs, international organizations, or similar entities, including grant-based and partnership-based resource mobilization
• Strong research and analytical skills, including the ability to identify, assess, and prioritize prospective partners, donors, and funding opportunities
• Experience working with relationship management tools (e.g., Salesforce), including the setup, maintenance, and use of CRM systems to support partnership and fundraising workflows
• Excellent written communication skills, with the ability to produce high-quality proposals, concept notes, briefing materials, and partner-facing content
• Ability to manage multiple priorities, coordinate across teams, and work effectively with senior leadership in a fast-paced, evolving environment
• Demonstrated ability to adapt to changing funding landscapes and to support both established and innovative fundraising approaches
• Fluency in English is essential; proficiency in Spanish and/or French is an asset
