Duties and Responsibilities
The intern’s responsibilities will mainly focus on administrative and data analysis support for the DMS team to successfully manage incoming and outgoing documentation workload. Within limits of delegated authority and under the general supervision of the Chief of the Section, the incumbent will be responsible for the following duties: • Analyzes the datasets and creates trends for further analysis. Reviews big data sets for anomalies, frequent errors for data cleaning exercises. • Assists with the collection and analysis of data as well as preparation of data presentations and reports for information sharing, periodic reporting, responding to queries, knowledge management, planning and decision making. • Provides general office support services to help ensure the smooth functioning of an organizational unit. • Uses standard MS tools to produce a variety of routine correspondence, reports, tables, charts, graphs, etc., in accordance with institutional standards and team needs. • Performs a variety of administrative tasks, centered in organization, research, and periodic monitoring. • Proofreads written products for completeness and grammatical and typographical accuracy. • Engaging in continuous communication with stakeholders to gather accurate and timely information necessary for careful planning of documentation workflow. • Maintains calendar/schedules; monitors change and communicates relevant information to appropriate staff inside and outside the immediate work unit. • Performs basic data entry and extraction functions. • Checks accuracy of simple calculations, data, etc.

Languages
English and French are the working languages of the UN Secretariat. For this position, fluency (oral and written) in English is required. Knowledge of another UN official language is an advantage.
