IDB Invest is the private sector arm of the IDB Group and an international financial institution committed to addressing the development needs of Latin America and the Caribbean. Our mission is to support sustainable enterprises and projects that deliver financial results while maximizing social and environmental impact in the region.
IDB Invest operates in 26 countries, structured across four geographic regions and three industry verticals: Infrastructure and Energy, Financial Intermediaries, and Corporates.
In support of a new transformative business model “Originate to Share” our shareholders recently approved a $3.5 billion capitalization. This will allow IDB Invest to significantly scale up its investments, nearly doubling annual financing from approximately $8 billion to $19 billion, and unlocking greater private sector participation to drive development and climate impact across the region.
We are seeking to fill one Director position within the Credit Risk Management (MCR) Division for the Caribbean region (for the three industries described above). This Director will report to the MCR Division Managing Director and will play a key role in coordinating the Division’s activities across their respective areas, while leading teams of Credit Risk Officers responsible for supporting the origination, execution, and monitoring of high-quality, creditworthy projects with significant development impact.
The Credit Risk Management (MCR) Division, part of the Risk Management Department of the IDB Invest, is responsible for developing and overseeing credit risk policies, parameters and procedures; reviewing credit and investment proposals with a view to assessing risk and supporting the internal credit approval process; participating in the project portfolio supervision process to validate risk rating assessments; and strengthening the Institution’s capacity to identify and manage the credit risk present in its lending operations and treasury activities (including investments and financial derivatives portfolios).
The MCR Division works closely with investment officers and clients to identify opportunities to add value proactively, beyond compliance and risk mitigation, and contribute to long-term developmental impact and sustainability. This division covers Infrastructure, Corporates, Financial Intermediaries and Funds; and Equity.
The Director will be a Member of the Delivery Units. These Delivery Units are responsible for: (i) establishing and maintaining client relationships, (ii) building pipeline through upstream project and sector development, (iii) transaction execution through the incorporation of multiple financial products including loans, guarantees, debt capital markets, equity and quasi-equity instruments, as well as resource mobilization and technical cooperation and (iv) acting as the center of institutional knowledge and expertise for the sectors covered by the Division. This integrated model enables Delivery Units to align business development with strategic priorities, enhance regional coordination, and ensure operational effectiveness across IDB Invest.
