The EIB, the European Union's bank, is seeking to recruit for its Secretariat General Directorate (SG), Communications Department (COM), Publishing Division (PUB) at its headquarters in Luxembourg, a Communication Officer – Branding and Design Lead*.
This is a full-time position at grade 5 for which the EIB offers a permanent contract.

You will manage and coordinate the branding direction and visual identity across the EIB Group’s digital and physical content, as well as its branded items, in line with the corporate communication strategy and action plan, in order to ensure attractiveness, brand recognition and visual consistency across all design outputs and the delivery of high-quality visual solutions, thereby contribution to the increased awareness and understanding of the EIB Group activities and to protect and enhance the EIB’s external identity and reputation.
The Communication Department ensures the EIB Group’s activities are known and valued by its stakeholders and the general public. It interacts with external and internal audiences and ensures the EIB Group engages with them in an open and accountable way.
The Publishing division is the content powerhouse of the department. Its mission is to develop engaging, timely and relevant content to support the EIB Group’s interaction with its audiences across all communication channels.
You are responsible for setting the branding direction and visual identity across the EIB Group’s digital and physical content, as well as its branded items. You ensure attractiveness, brand recognition and visual consistency across all design outputs and the delivery of high-quality visual solutions. You act as a guardian of the EIB Group’s visual identity and ensure the proper use of the logo both internally and externally. You oversee creative agencies, consultant graphic designers, and composition / typesetting companies to design and produce some 150 publications a year, all branded items (such as gift and stationery items) and conference materials (such as physical or digital backdrops, marketing materials, and roll-ups). You provide branding direction for the corporate website, social media channels, audiovisual materials, and corporate presentations. You introduce new graphic design technology and AI tools. You ensure the proper functioning and ongoing development of the EIB Group web shop where staff members can order their branded items. You ensure effective planning, contract and budget management.
This is an exciting role that requires proven design ability and sensitivity, the desire and motivation to coordinate in-house consultants and external service providers towards continued visual excellence, an interest in working on both physical and digital products, and the willingness to research and adopt the best tools available for top-quality online publishing.

(***) Unless stated explicitly as a required qualification, a good command of French is not a pre-requisite for hire. As both English and French are however official working languages of the EIB, proficiency in both languages is a pre-requisite for your future career development. Any language clause in your contract must be fulfilled in order for you to be eligible for a promotion (either via the annual appraisal cycle or via an internal selection process). Proficiency is understood to mean the attainment of level 5 of the Inter Institutional language courses, corresponding to B1.2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFRL).
