What You'll DoRTI’s Office of Finance is seeking an experienced Financial Analyst to support the Social, Statistical, & Environmental Sciences research group. In this role, you will be responsible for the daily financial management of a portfolio of research projects. You will be working closely with research staff in analyzing the financial status of research projects, performing risk assessments, and providing proactive guidance to business partners based on ongoing management of a project portfolio.This role requires the ability to provide clear, concise, and sound guidance on project financial information to multiple stakeholders. You'll need excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Institute. This position provides an opportunity to work in a fast-paced and exciting organization and set the stage for future growth opportunities within the company.This position can be worked remotely, or located in Research Triangle Park, NC or Waltham, MA. Responsibilities Perform on-going project financial analysis; including ability to conduct profitability analysis, forecast costs and variances and fee deviationsPerform on-going project review including review of actual costs for proper charging and accuracy; initiate journal entries; review invoices; and support processing payment approvalsEnsure that all projects are reviewed on monthly basis and summarization of financial condition of project is communicated to project leadersProvide effective guidance to project leader and team management regarding potential change in statement of work requiring revised budgetPrepare monthly progress reports including project forecasts and resource projections for clientSupport preparation of continuation applications/carry over fund budgets; prepare add-on budgetsReview initial project authorizations and project setup for accuracy, review/solicit guidance for understanding of relevant terms and conditions applicable to contract Provide overflow support for proposals as needed What You'll NeedQualificationsBachelor’s degree with 3+ years of experience required or Master’s degree with 1 year of relevant experienceRelevant experience is defined as financial analysis workKnowledge of MS Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, ExcelAbility to obtain proper security clearances as noted by contractsKnowledge of US Government contractors, the Federal Acquisition Regulations a plusAbility to learn new systems and familiarity with accounting systems a plusApplicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States and should not require now, or in the future, sponsorship for employment visa sponsorshipResponsibilities
