About IRRI
The International Rice Research Institute (IRRI) is dedicated to reducing poverty and hunger through rice science; improving the health and welfare of rice farmers and consumers; and protecting the rice-growing environment for future generations. IRRI is an independent, nonprofit, research and educational institute, founded in 1960 by the Ford and Rockefeller foundations with support from the Philippine government. The institute, headquartered in Los Baños, Philippines, has offices in 17 rice-growing countries in Asia and Africa, and over 1,000 staff.
Working with in-country partners, IRRI develops advanced rice varieties that yield more grain and better withstand pests and disease as well as flooding, drought, and other harmful effects of climate change.
Job Purpose

This position will be based at the IRRI Headquarters, Los Baños, Philippines, and may only be filled by permanent citizens of the Philippines.

This role will be responsible for supporting the development and delivery of online courses and capacity development programs at IRRI. The role includes designing and implementing interactive multimedia and graphic design solutions using appropriate tools and software to ensure high-quality course content and an enhanced learning experience.

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Architect and develop e-learning modules, MOOCs, and self-paced courses from concept to deployment.
  • Build interactive prototypes and test them for usability, accessibility, and learner engagement.
  • Support the development of multimedia-rich content (videos, animations, graphics, audio, text).
  • Enhance and maintain UI & UX for LMS and web platforms.
  • Integrate new tools, plugins, and technologies into existing systems for better learning outcomes.
  • Translate subject matter inputs into structured digital learning experiences.
  • Develop branding, media, and graphic assets required for course deployment.
  • Ensure content standards, design consistency, and platform optimization.
  • Work closely with IRRI scientists, education specialists, and external partners for content development, validation, and integration.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design training workflows (online and face-to-face).
  • Conduct workshops and training on e-learning development through articulate.
  • Continuously iterate and improve based on user testing, analytics, and feedback.
  • Produce e-learning content and courses.
  • Develop interactive multimedia learning content for the project using software/tools.
  • Design, develop and improve multimedia content (audio/video/graphics/text materials) for the project.
  • Improved UI, and UX of LMS & website.
Qualifications

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Digital Multimedia, Communication, Educational Technology, Development Communication, Fine Arts (Applied Arts), or a related field, with strong knowledge and practical experience in graphic design and multimedia applications.

Skills Required

Mandatory

  • Multimedia tools for graphic design, audio-video product, & Course development. (Adobe suite)
  • Good computer and ICT skills
  • Have visual design skills and knowledge of using a wide range of authoring tools for videos, images, and interactive content. (Articulate 360, Adobe Captivate)
  • Strong self-motivation and self-management

Preferred

  • At least 3 years of experience in IT design and digital multimedia formats.
  • Has experience in developing and delivering online courses
  • Has good experience in knowledge management (LMS and CMS) solutions and platforms
  • Has worked in Agriculture Education domain
  • Ability to constructively identify and discuss potential project challenges
