Job description
Deployed within the Technical Secretariat of the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI), the development Worker will be responsible for providing technical expertise on governance and public finance issues in general, and specifically on the systematic integration and publication of data related to the commitment of the government and mining companies to the EITI process.
Your tasks
- Contribute significantly to strengthening commitment to the EITI process and data disclosure by provincial and local governments and industrial mining companies
- Raise awareness among provincial and local administrations and private mining companies about the systematic disclosure of EITI reporting entities and the role of audit institutions and Civil Society Organisations (CSOs)
- Raise awareness among mining companies and private mining groups (associations/FEC) about their fiscal, social, and environmental obligations to the state at the central, provincial, and local levels
- Support the systematic disclosure of data required by the EITI Standard by extractive companies in accordance with Expectations for EITI supporting companies
- Maintain regular relations with focal points and representatives of provincial and local administrations and industrial mining companies in the two provinces concerned, to strengthen their commitment to the EITI process and to the systematic disclosure of data; This includes, but is not limited to, supporting changes in corporate governance and transparency practices through dedicated working or training sessions
- Establish a system for monitoring the publications of these provincial and local administrations and companies in accordance with EITI requirements, including: financial statements, production and export statistics, anti-corruption policies, and beneficial ownership
- Support EITI-DRC in its relations with CSOs and local administrations
Your profile
- Master's degree (or equivalent) in economics or public finance preferred
- Knowledge of EITI; experience related to EITI would be an asset
- Required skills and qualities: listening skills, teamwork, motivation for field work (with companies), teaching skills, rigor, ability to synthesize information, communication skills
- Many years of experience in the field of Extractive Industries Governance and/or public finance, including several years preferably in Africa or in fragile countries
- Experience in the private sector preferred
- A very good level (at least C1) of French and English is required for this position
- Strong digitalization and information management skills are assets
- Experience in the DRC would be an asset
