Result of Service
Develop and deliver four Power Point presentations with in-depth technical knowledge on the technological advancements and innovative solutions, software available for planning and managing urban public transport, advanced technological applications, and Institutional and financing aspects of urban public transport. Prepare a final report (English or Arabic, no more than 30 pages) on the workshops' achievements.

Duties and Responsibilities
Background: The Land Transport Authority in Libya requested ESCWA to provide capacity building on using GIS tools to assess public transport services in Libyan cities. ESCWA will implement three remote capacity building workshops on utilizing modern technology in planning and managing urban public transport networks. The External Consultant is required to complement ESCWA's expertise on specific topics covered by the workshops, namely: • Technological aspects and innovative solutions to improve the performance of urban public transport. • Software specialized in planning and managing public transport and the requirements for its application. • Advanced technological applications for operating and monitoring Urban Public Transport. • Institutional and financing aspects of urban public transport: lessons learned from the experiences of developed countries. Duties and Responsibilities: The consultant shall: • Develop and deliver engaging presentations with in-depth technical knowledge on the following topics: 1. Technological advancements and innovative solutions to enhance urban public transport performance. 2. Software available for planning and managing urban public transport, including application requirements. 3. Advanced technological applications for operating and monitoring Urban Public Transport. 4. Institutional and financing aspects of urban public transport: lessons learned from the experiences of developed countries. • Participate in virtual meetings between ESCWA and the Land Transport Authority staff, answering questions related to the aforementioned topics and urban public transport in general. • Assist the ESCWA Regional Advisor on Transport and Logistics in finalizing the presentation materials. • Prepare a final report (English or Arabic, no more than 30 pages) on the workshops' achievements.
Qualifications/special skills
A Master’s degree in Transport or related area is required. All candidates must submit a copy of the required educational degree. Incomplete applications will not be reviewed. A minimum of 10 years of professional work experience in the field of transport and logistics is required. A minimum of 5 years of professional work experience in transport studies is required. A minimum of 3 studies on Urban Public Transport in at least two different countries is desirable.
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat; and Arabic is a working language of ESCWA. For this position, fluency in Arabic is required. Fluency in English is desirable. Note: “Fluency” equals a rating of ‘fluent’ in all four areas (speak, read, write, and understand) and “Knowledge of” equals a rating of ‘confident’ in two of the four areas.
