The VPU advises and supports WBG management on a wide range of issues related to country engagement, lending operations, financial management, procurement, and corporate results reporting. OPCS is also responsible for risk management, environmental and social safeguards, and operational learning. Working in OPCS provides professionals with broad exposure to strategic operations and deep insights into the Bank’s core business. With almost 200 staff members, OPCS is structured into four departments: OPCS . Operations Policy and Country Services sits at the center of the operations complex. It develops and oversees the policies and procedures governing country engagement, lending, advisory services, financial management, procurement, environmental and social standards, and risk and results reporting, and helps Bank teams apply them. OPSEE . The Operations Efficiency and Effectiveness department drives excellence in Bank operations through analytics, learning, capacity building and AI innovation. It translates institutional priorities into stronger delivery, better portfolio performance, improved risk visibility and operational modernization. OPSEE has two units: OPSOS, and the Operations Learning unit (OPSLE), which leads operational learning, accreditation and client implementation capacity programs. OPSOS . The Operations and Strategy unit is OPSEE's operating intelligence and rapid-delivery function. It turns complex operational data into timely, validated products for senior management, the Board, Regions, donors, evaluators and external partners. Its work program spans pipeline monitoring, portfolio analytics, risk reporting, corporate and Board reporting, IDA reporting, and engagement with the Independent Evaluation Group. OPSOS maintains live dashboards and governed data products on the Bank's Lakehouse platform and builds AI-enabled tools for risk intelligence and operational data, often in joint teams with ITS engineers. It is shifting from recurring reporting toward reusable, automated and AI-enabled institutional capability. The unit also contributes to the institution's approach to governing and scaling AI in operations, and to an enterprise geospatial capability for portfolio intelligence. Background The World Bank requires accurate, timely, and data-driven information to support senior management decision-making. Corporate reporting initiatives, including Operational Efficiency and Effectiveness (OPSEE), Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) monitoring, Management Action Record (MAR) tracking, Crisis Response management tool, Water Strategy Implementation Plan (WSIP) dashboard, and related management reporting products, rely on sophisticated analytics, data integration, and business intelligence solutions.
