WEN-Africa brings together utilities, energy companies, regulators, regional power pools, energy ministries, women’s professional associations, regional organizations, development partners, and the private sector to increase women’s employment, with strong focus on technical and leadership roles, entrepreneurship and financial inclusion across the energy value chain. The network supports institutional partners in translating commitments into measurable results through technical assistance, capacity building, knowledge exchange, policy dialogue, advocacy, and results monitoring. Its interventions are delivered through five pillars: (i) Hiring More Women, (ii) Retention and Career Advancement and Skills Development, (iii) Promoting STEM Education, (iv) Policy and Institutional Change, and (v) Promoting Women’s Entrepreneurship and Financial Inclusion, which collectively address barriers to women’s employment, leadership, and economic inclusion in Africa’s energy transition.
